Hi all, 😃

My PC has been crashing more regularly recently and although I have built many PCs, I can't work out what's wrong.

The temps seem to be fine when I have used Afterburner while playing Rust. It hasn't crashed on Apex Legends before. The PC always restarts fine. I should really get better at diagnosing this myself but don't know where to start.

It has crashed during a number of things and doesn't always BSOD.

The usual times it crashes are:
  • OBS Studio / Streaming to Twitch
  • Playing Rust (whether streaming or not)
  • Also sometimes Chrome will crash on it's own

PC Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 1700
Gigabyte GA-AX370-GAMING 5 ATX AM4 (with latest F50e BIOS)
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME
Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB Dual
Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold

Notes:
I have run Memory Diagnostic Tool mdsched.exe in Windows 10 and it came back with 0 errors.
I have updated to latest BIOS.
I have completed all Windows Updates.
I have used Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode to uninstall and reinstall the latest graphics drivers.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Rust from Steam.
Closed Malwarebytes while running steam and disabled Avast.
Closed Wallpaper engine.

Diagnostics
I don't really know what I am looking for but I have a bit more info below. I hope someone can help / point me in the right direction! Thanks!

BSOD Errors Include:
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
win32kfull.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
luafv.sys

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION
(doesn't even say what failed)

ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY
nvlddmkm.sys

Here are some "Critical" Level Events, do I need to look at "Warnings" and "Errors" too? I'm not really sure what this means or if I need to provide this to help?

Solution
Definitely try memtest86. It can find probs that the system software will not find. Recently identified a bad RAM module after several weeks of hair pulling. You'll need a usb keyboard to move the cursor when booting from a USB drive (I did anyway). It can take awhile to run. Good luck!
hi , if u tested memory, then next culprit would be some random bad driver
try looking through memory dumps rather than event viewer for BSODs
maybe that driver will be found there (most of kernel drivers wouldnt appear or be hidden with windows drivers), if u cant find driver there uor you see microsoft driver, than driver debug will be needed
if u never touched memory dumps, they should be located at C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\ ,here u can spot several dmp files..for each crash single file
u can upload them (cloud/free hosting), then post link and somebody will look at it here

Hi guys,

Thank you for your replies. Tonight I turned off XMP in the BIOS and the PC played rust for a few hours, much better results than previously! However the game did crash and I had to restart it once, so still not perfect.

@pixeldroid I will look to try memtest86 tomorrow.

@kerberos_20 Tonight there have been no BSODs which I assume is why there are no memory dumps?

Thank you :)
