Question PC doesn't let me install more than 6 gbs of RAM

So one day I turned on my computer and instead of the mix-match 10 gb memory I had, my system was showing 6 gb, after running memtest86, reseating all the memory(Changing slots) and looking for faulty ram nothing semed to work .Running with 1 sticks, it gave 4, running with 2 sticks it gave 6, you would think that putting a 4th one would yield 8 but no. Still 6 no matter the pattern I used.

For worse Speccy and memtest86 shows I have 10 gb of ram size when all sticks are in but system and bios still show 6 as installed. I came to this forum because besides buying 100 dollars worth of ddr3 ram that may not even work I don't see any other solution.(I might upgrade to DDR4 in a few months so it would be a waste). Thanks for reading

I looked into this, and from what I could find, it's a miracle that some of the ram is even working at all.

[Taken straight from your motherboard manual]
This motherboard does not support DIMMs made up of 512Mb (64MB) chips or less.
(Memory chip capacity counts in Megabit, 8 Megabit/Mb = 1 Megabyte/MB)

Crucial 2GB ram: 8x 256Mb chips
Team Elite 4GB ram: 8x 256Mb chips
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB ram: 2x 512Mb chips

Your mobo requires some higher density memory chips.
From an older thread, but this user had a similar situation to yours, but the other way around: Why does high density DDR3 not work with some motherboards?

DDR4 requires a new cpu and motherboard. It's not backwards compatible with your current system.

Thanks for looking into it but the ram on my pcpartpicker build is not the one I actually have. On the image link from the memtest86 link it shows it's a nanya ram (which pcpartpicker doesn't show as options) and a hyper x. My apologies for the missunderstanding. I see you know a lot about ram so I request that you please still help me because I do need to run apps that require at least 8gb of ram. Yet again I'm sorry for the error.

This is the first stick. I got 2 sticks of this one 4gb and another 2 gb of the same memory
And this is the other kit https://www.ebay.com/i/282827563371...WkT_eQgP6SpmASgiQLrNolyzE8ilezokaAu4bEALw_wcB

i am so sorry my friend.

Btw these are some pictures of task manager and Speccy. I'm so sorry for the bother phaze.

And this is how it looks on the motherboard, currently running with 8 sticks, only showing 6 as installed still. Thanks for the help in advance

Ah well, no big. It'll just take some more time.

Can you give me the model number of the 2GB Nanya stick? It's the letters and numbers packed together on top of the first bar code.

absolutely:
It is nt2gc64b88g0nf-cg and it says it has a 1215 tw

Also these are some picture of all the ram on the computer. Just in case you need more info

This is the nanya(both 4 gb and the 2)

And this is the Kingston

This here is an image of the ram slots

It's better to have more than to lack information ^_^

Try booting your system with single ram module. Try all ram slots this way.
If it works in one slot and doesn't work in another, this could mean inoperable ram slot. Check cpu socket for bent pins then.

I've done the ram switcharoo already (took me quite a bit) and Besides 1 ram stick that was possitioned slightly off (which I fixed and still stayed with the original problem) everything else was normal. For the CPU i'll have to check tomorrow since it's 12(night) here and I'll have to take apart the whole computer......again. So tired, I've been researching this problem the whole day. Besides a bent cpu pin, could it be anything else? And since it's Lga I'll look for bent pins on the cpu right, and could I straighten those out? BTW since I'm studying for my a+ may I know how a bent pin could make this problem occur? Does it have to do with the L cache on the cpu? Thanks in advance and I'll update tomorow afternoon.

So, uhh, where'd you get the Kingston ram from? I believe this kit is bogus.
I can do multiple successful searches on the Nanya ram, but don't find anything with this kit posing as a Kingston kit.

Sorry, but you're going to have to do the ram swap again.
1)Put the Nanya memory in the blue slots. Boot, how much ram does speccy see? Then check how much Windows sees.
2)Turn PC off and take Nanya memory out, and put the Kingston ram in - blue slots. Speccy sees how much? Windows?

Well - you didn't mention this test being done.
You said, you tested for faulty ram module, but didn't mention testing for faulty ram slot.

And in this image, config is wrong. Put Nanya modules in blue slots, Kingston - in black slots.

Thanks, at that time I was testing out the ram slots so I wasn't running dual channel. Good eye

Well, the hyperx ram was salvaged from an old aurora r3 a friend gave me, I've also been looking and only have found listings for it but nothing in Kingston website. It has been working for 2 years (on my pc, dunno before) so I didn't really look into it. When I use it by itself it works and when I use it with others It does in certain slots only as you can see.

Anyways I did what you asked and here are the results.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1-WnNjlNU2pMxn_I0TiznC_nOxr3wZsi8

Besides when I tried both nanyas, I was using the 2 gb nanya with one 'hyperx'

I still have to run more swaps but I'm late for college. Will update when I check the CPU pins in the afternoon

Phaaze so I just asked my teacher and it looks like it could be a windows update that messed up the ram since I was running I 2 gb besides a 4. I did do an update to windows the day before the problem occured. I'm going to have to buy new ram so that's that =_=. Thanks a lot for the help. If you want to give more insight feel free to comment.
