Hi, so I have an msi ventus 3x rtx 3060 12gb which worked only two days ago, I hardly play on my pc so when I booted up a game, it asked me to update my gpu driver which I did. I’m not sure whether it was downloaded properly or not, but the screen started flashing after the update was installed, however the fans for my gpu then went full throttle to which I then shut my pc off from the main power socket.

The next day, I tried opening my pc, but it did not work, I had tried everything but nothing seemed to work, I had assumed ram at first, however even after cleaning the ram (which works), my pc wouldn’t turn on. My gpu ended up being the thing preventing my entire pc from working. I tested everything out with my older pc I have as a backup testbench, with only my gpu not working. My motherboard, cpu, ram, pcie slot, spare gpu all works, but my rtx 3060 does not.

All I get when connecting my gpu to the power supply is maybe the case fans spinning half a rotation, but even the LEDs on the fans won’t turn on, before stationary, the entire pc won’t move.

I’ve already reinstalled windows on a clean ssd, tried to clear cmos, flash bios and even opened up my rtx 3060 to look inside, the thermal paste seemed fine, the pins on the rtx 3060 seem fine, and the inside components don’t look damaged at all leaving me very very confused as to why my gpu does not work. I have no integrated graphics so I’m using an older gpu now.

My specs for my pc now is:

Ryzen 7 5700x
MSI b550m pro vdh non-wifi
32gb Vulcan ddr4 ram
Corsair rm650 80+gold
rx 550 2gb (Old gpu which works)

Old pc:

Ryzen 3 2300x
Asus prime a320m-k motherboard
8gb ddr4 hyperx fury ram

I had just purchased the graphics card around November time from eBay, so my only option is either myself or a local repair store to help fix it.

Was wondering if anyone knew why this was or what to do. Attached also is the photos of the gpu itself and my pc setup.

Thank you.

How old is the PSU in your build? Try and source(borrow, not buy) a reliably built 750 or higher wattage PSU and see if the issue is alleviated.

You could likewise drop the RTX3060 onto a known working system that has a PSU with more power than the entire system needs, to rule out your GPU as the culprit.

Hi, the power supply is less than a year old I believe and the only one I have lying around now, the only reason I have ruled this out is because of how relatively new the psu is as well as the pc being built around Christmas time.

Could be that something died within the GPU and 3rd party repair is only option. If core is gone, then entire GPU is gone.
