Mobo is a MSI z690 ddr4 wifi, after the most recent bios update my pc usually doesn't boot.
First of all, the bios update went smoothly, but since then (one week more or less) the pc usually goes black screen when started. What I have observed since then:
  • No error led lights up on the mobo
  • Fans and case led are on during the black screens
  • Only my GPU is connected to the monitor
  • The problem happened right after the bios update (next start failed) and I haven't changed anything else in regard to the hardware or settings within the bios itself
  • This problem happens 95% of the times but not always, I tried various tests but haven't been able to find a pattern to make it work, sometimes it simply works and that's it. For example I have read somewhere that disconnecting the PSU could fix the problem but that didn't work for me.
  • If I restart the pc from within Windows then it never fails to boot
  • This is probably the most important point, if during the black screens I press the restart button on my case then the boot goes smoothly 100% of the times
  • PC works flawlessly when on
Any suggestions on what to do apart from downgrading the bios?

If needed I could post my other specs but they shouldn't really matter

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Did you clear the CMOS after you'd verified that the BIOS was successfully flashed to the latest version?

Possibly not related since its works after restarting, But some motherboards delete "old drivers" for older CPU Compatibilities, you should check the manual of your motherboard.

No, never touched the CMOS, should I have? I downloaded the bios update from the MSI website and used the proper updater from within the BIOS. The process ended normally but after the next restart the PC started to show this problem (complete black screen, all fans are working tho)

Specs:

CPU: 13600k
CPU cooler: Phantom Spirit 120
Motherboard: MSI z690 wifi ddr4
Ram: Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz DDR4 CL16 (manually overclocked months ago, never had any issue)
SSD/HDD: two ssd connected to the mobo, one external connected to the front case usb port. Only one ssd has the
GPU: AMD 6800 (manual undervolt applied within Adrenaline, shows no error when the pc finally boots)
PSU: Corsair RM650x
Chassis: Fractal Torrent
OS: Windows 11 Pro updated
Monitor: HP x24ih

You could try clear CMOS doesnt hurt to try, 1. you could try jumping it, check motherboard manual, or 2. easy way is the little coin battery inside your pc, just take it out for few seconds and put it back in, ofc make sure to power off / unplug your pc etc.

It's later where I live so I'll try tomorrow morning and post an update, thank you

Quick update:
Yesterday I was about to do the BIOS reset but while I was opening the case, I noticed my DP was on the second slot of my GPU, so I tried first to move it on the first and the pc started smoothly. Today the problem reappeared and so confirmed my suspicion that yesterday "fix" wasn't about the GPU cable but because I had disconnected the PSU (in preparation for the BIOS reset).
Now I have proceeded with the BIOS reset and the pc started correctly, I'll need a longer shut down to confirm if the fix is permanent or not
