Hello, I'm having a problem recently where my pc doesn't boot and gives me a CPU error on the ezdebug leds. so i hold the power button to force shut it down and turn it on again and it boots normally. i've had this pc for 6 years now so it's not a cpu reseating issue. i've cleared CMOS by removing the battery for 5 minutes, i did a clean install of windows 11. i both updated and reset the bios settings and nothing worked for me. nothing happens in the event log in windows and i have no idea how to fix this issue.

it shouldn't be on in win 11 but check if it is... see if fast startup is turned on

  • Open Start on Windows 11.
  • Search for Control Panel and click the top result to open the app.
  • Click on Hardware and Sound (in the “Category” view).
  • Click on Power Options.
  • Click the “Choose what the power button does” option from the left pane.
  • Click the “Change settings that are currently unavailable” option.
  • untick the “Turn on fast startup” option to disable the feature on Windows 11.
It being on might explain the startup thing. If its not on, leave it that way as it doesn't help a system with an ssd as boot drive.

thanks for the reply and no, it's not on. I turned it off a while ago trying to fix the issue, but it didn't help.

i know you removed cmos battery but maybe you need to replace it and see if that fixes it. It is used to save settings but tbh if it were cmos I would expect other settings to also be forgotten on a startup. Worth a try.

its unlikely to be windows related then if it happens at startup and fast startup is off.
The fact it works on a restart is unusual. There shouldn't be any difference between starts... the time PC is off in a restart is a lot shorter though.

Does it happen on every startup or just sometimes?

If always, would be tempted to remove some aprts to try to isolate cause. Perhaps unplug all the hdd except C and see if it makes any difference. Shame CPU doesn't have igpu cores or I would suggest same for GPU. I don't think any of these items are to blame but unplugging them to see if error still happens is one way to be sure.
