Hi guys just signed up today.

Wondering if you could give your wisdom or opinion on my question.

I have a PS3 it YLOD on me 1 month ago, was able to fix it and get it working again. For how long I don't know.

But I may sell it, and get myself into the pc gaming again.

What do you think?

If so what CPU, gpu, single or multi card, pretty much any help please.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

As cheap as possible, but not the cheapest of course. Something that is value for money.

I have a 27 inch LCD HD tv so would use that. Both to watch tv and for the pc. Or would you not recommend that.

It's been 10 years since I last built a pc, and was shocked that AGP was gone and pci had returned :)

But I have been looking at these so far.

CPU Amd fx 4100

Not sure if I should single card gpu or crossfire. I'm not sure because it would be with a mobo that is x16 and x4 for crossfire, and I've heard bad things about that.

This, I have a PS3, which is 24 months old now, and the tray is worn out nearly. I use it for the exclusives that I like, COD with some mates and Fifa UT as it isn't hacked on PS3 too much. It's all I use it for now is for those games and some movies.

Make a PC that will last 3 years for gaming then get a PS4 when it has it's bugs fixed and is under £300, $350.

I'll build you a PC if you want just tell us the budget.

I live in England.

Thanks for the replies.

Spat55 that scares me you say you have a 7850 but want the newer version. You see for me I have the HD tv and so I don't think I can go above 1080p so most video cards should be able to produce that at extreme graphics, do you think?

Any experiences using crossfire?

If you are only using your tv as a monitor, crossfire/ali is a waste. It only shines when you have multiple monitors or using really high resolutions (same thing i guess). Some games don't scale well with crossfire too. Stick with 1 good card. The 7870 or 7950 would be good.

I have a decent gaming PC and a PS3. My PS3 is like three or four years old and it works like brand new. I prefer to play on my PS3, but if I were you I would save up for a PS4 and use a little bit of the money to do some minor upgrades to your current PC just so you can play a few games at a decent setting. I happen to prefer consoles.

Currently I have laptop, only good for office, net etc...

So can't upgrade that. I need to sell my ps3 as YLOD means it will die again soon I'm sure.

So should I buy another cheap new ps3 or build a pc with one good graphics card. I will use the TV as my monitor so I won't be going over 1080p.

Or should I look at getting a decent monitor to reach those big resolutions?

Thanks again guys.

Haha yeah, we'll my next question was should I have cereal or toast for breakfast.

I know only I can really answer this I guess. I might start a new clean thread about what system I should build, based around the AMD fx4100 CPU.

lol you do that ;)

Just giving my two cents i am by no means an expert.I followed advice on the forums and built a new computer for a little over a thousand dollars it has CPU i52500k GPU asus7870 DC2-2GD5 AMD 4G ddr3 mem and mobo gigabyte s.1155 intel z77 atx.
This system plays everything pretty much maxed and i am in gaming heaven.I was also a console only guy forever having a 360 who died on me many times and i still have a working ps3.I do not even touch my ps3 anymore i thought games looked good on consoles but i was blown away by the pc not to mention no slow down and no load times and i can still play with my controller.
I also heard the inel CPU were better for gaming than the bulldozer ones but like i said i am no expert and maybe i was taken fora ride.Just my two cents!

7850 should be plenty for 1080p gaming. Here's a £550 build, including OS:

FX 4100 is a bulldozer chip, which was a horrible disappointment (It was worse than the previous generation of chips at integer calculations). the newest series (4300, 6300, 8320, 8350) are much better and just a step behind intel chips.
