PC Randomly Freezes Crashes

Hello, you see, my computer was crashing for a while now when playing videos and games.
It goes into a weird white-black lines mode, or black screen mode, or just freezes and makes me unable to do anything, therefore forcing me to restart. It happens MOSTLY when I play videos (I'm using chrome).
Is the software at fault or is the hardware at fault? What should I do?

first try to update video drivers and just to be safe all other drivers

There are several things that could be causing this issue. I'll list a few of the most common issues and how to test and/or resolve.

1. Drivers: butremor's advice on updating the drivers is a good start.
2. RAM: Run MemTest86+ to ensure the RAM is not the issue.
3. What brand of PSU is in your computer? A poor-quality PSU can cause myriads of issues. High quality brands include Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, and XFX.
4. Heat: I can't imagine videos causing your cpu or gpu to overheat, but best to check everything. Check the temps on your GPU and CPU. You can use a utility like CoreTemp to check the cpu temp(http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/). The Catalyst Center can show you the temp of your GPU. What are your temps while running a video?

You might also try uninstalling Chrome and re-installing if the above tests do not show anything wrong.

Okay guys, thanks for help.
By yesterday's very evening I tried to google some more and found out that the problem was in Chrome and nothing wrong happened since.
How to fix this if this happens to you:
1. Go to about://plugins in the chrome taskbar
2. Advanced
3. Disable Adobe Shockwave
4. DL and install adobe from the official site
5. Fixed
By the way, I've got the newest drivers avaiable, because I reinstalled the Windows a few days ago and found and DLd. The heat should be okay as I checked so far. If something more happens, I'll let you know, thanks very u´much.
I will not close the thread just yet, in case it appears again.
