Question PC restarts repeatedly with black screen no beeps after gpu test

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes...

I could really do with an experts help right now as I'm at my wits end. So, yesterday I bought a XFX Radeon Rx470 Black Edition (bought off FB marketplace) and tested it in my PC to our living room TV via HDMI cable and it worked.

Keep in mind my monitor only has a VGA port, so I went and got myself a new-sealed DVI-D to VGA adaptor off marketplace to use with the GPU & monitor.

Now fast forward 3 hours ago, I put the GPU into my PC and connected the adaptor, but there was no display, just a black screen. So I turned off the PC at the power button by long pressing and decided remove the GPU since the adaptor doesn't seem to be working.

I then plug the VGA cable directly into the mobo like I've always been using it and it just gives me black screen all of sudden and restarts repeatedly.

Please what could be the reason for this happening?

Oh and I've got speakers plugged in, but there are no beeps if that helps.

I've got really important files on this PC.

Will appreciate any advice on how to best address the issue 😃

full system spec? include brand and model of the psu
I've done these so far.

1. I removed the cmos battery and put it back still the same Black screen and restarting.

2. I removed both ram sticks and it gives beeps Same black screen and restarting.

3. I put just one ram stick in and it still black screen And restarting.

I've done these so far.

3. I put just one ram stick in and it still black screen And restarting.

4. I probably should have left this bit for last, but I cleaned out all my PC fans of dust incl. CPU fan and heatsink.

5. Reapplied new thermal paste to CPU.

6. Saw a YT video suggesting I should leave out CMOS battery for 10min and keep pressing power button repeatedly.

7. I remembered I had some spare ram from previous PC that blew. Tried one stick and voila the PC got POST.

UPDATE

No. 7 worked.

Turns out both my 4GB ram sticks died!? idk how or why and all this after testing the GPU which is really weird to say the least... luckily I had a spare stick lying around to test.

Could the GPU I had bought be faulty? Can it damage other components? Or is it just a coincidence that both sticks died on me.

I'm now afraid to reinstall the GPU and should I contact the person who sold it to me?
