Hello folks,

I have a ASrock B450M HDV r4.0 motherboard and I recently upgraded from R5 2400G to R7 5700X and it started shutting down as soon as I run memory test or do heavy tasks that require both CPU and RAM

And Yes I have a Kit ram so no issues there as I have tested the on other builds it does fine

But if I use the board with only 1 stick of RAM it does fine and does not crash!!

What could be the issue?

Here are the things which I tried

I tried upgrading/downgrading bios

Enabling/Disabling XPM

Reset BIOS to default settings

CMOS battery removed and everything

Still no Help!!

This motherboard?

Any error codes, warnings, or informational events being captured Reliability History/Monitor and/or Event Viewer.

Especially any that are logged just before or at the time of the shutdowns.
Yes that motherboard
No nothing on the event viewer!

"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

Just got this error

How old is that 450 watt Corsair PSU?

History of heavy use for gaming, video editing, or even bit-mining?
The PSU is roughly 5 years old ( don't know exactly)!
Yes It has been used heavily for gaming for games like Apex Legends and Forza especially in the covid times and I am a video editor so editing videos daily for the past 2 years
Never mined tho.

I would replace that PSU. It wasn't exactly a great unit new.

I get your point but My R5 2400G has the same power draw as 5700x and it has no issues with it even with running 2 ram stick!
Even when I play games with single stick of ram and 5700x It goes fine!

The problem is not the power draw per se.

The problem is most likely that the Cosair 450 watt PSU is no longer able to support the power draw.

Overall PSU now beyond its' designed in EOL (End of Life) and starting to falter and fail.

Remember that PSU's provide three different voltages (3.3, 5, and 12) to various system components.

Any voltage or voltages out of tolerance will result in all sort system problems.
