Question Pc shutting down immediately after start up.

Hey,

i finished a pc build and after starting it up it ran for about 20-30 sec. before the PSU fan stopped spinning and shortly after the pc shut down and restarted itself. The PSU has 650watts so it should be enough. A pc build wattage calculator spit out 437watts for a build with my specs. Through trying with a spare psu with 500watts I could rule out the psu as the source of my problem. I also switched out the GPU with a spare and it too wasent the problem. I replugged every cord but get the same problem.

I can get it to run stable if I use only one of the RAM sticks in the first Slot without it turning off but still cant get it to post. Same thing when running with the cpu cable disconnected. The only possible sources of error at this point are the MOBO or the CPU I think. The MOBO is fresh out the box but the CPU hast been sitting for some time safely stored away. None of the pins were bend and it looked good.

I cant 100% rule out a overheating issue but I dont think thats the problem.

Do u have any Idea what could be the problem with my build ? Thx for every answer. :D

You sure that's not a B450 chipset motherboard?

GSKILL 16gb RAM 3200Mhz
Which slots are the sticks of ram populating on the motherboard?

How old is the PSU in your build?

Yes, its a B450 Chipset writing mistake.

The RAM Sticks were in the 1st and 3rd slot at the start and with only one in the 1st slot I got it to run stable without shutting down but also no output as mentioned. The Slots are labeld A1 A2 B1 B2 so they were in Slot A1 and B1.

The 650Watts PSU is quite old I believe 2-3 Years and the 500Watts PSU is only a bout a year old.

Try A2, B2 slots. Most Asrock motherboards use those slots first for higher clocked ram like you got. Page 28 of your Mobo Manual.

Ok, I tried this but still got the same problem. Also a few years ago I built a pc with the same mobo and also used 3200Mhz ram in the A1 and B1 slots. And while that RAM only worked at 2something thousand mhz it still booted and everything. But thanks anyway now I know why I couldnt get the 3200mhz from my ram back then when I used A1 B1 Slots :D. But the boot problem sadly still remains. :(
