PC still lagging

I've been multiplayering in Halo PC for 6 months or so. About two weeks
ago I suddenly started lagging and I can't figure out why. This -might-
have been when v1.07 came out.

I'm having this problem in Halo only. I have no such problem in
Counterstrike, where I can often get pings under 20 msec with no lagging.

My system is a Pentium4, 2.8 GHz, 1GB RAM.

I've tried the following:
* checked for spyware, repeatedly checked all running processes with
Task Manager
* checked for viruses
* clean restart (with unessential processes not run). This worked for 15
minutes or so, then I started having redraw problems.
* updated nVidia driver
* reinstalled DirectX9
* installed SP2, then made appropriate firewall settings
* confirmed that my router has the latest firmware
* confirmed connection speed
* bypassed my router and connected directly to the cable modem

Me again. Actually, I don't know when 1.07 came out.

Also, I should mention that my ping always reads a normal (65-100 msec).

The updater did delete your network profile, so it had to be
"Retrained." Bungie wrote a post about this on their site.

Also the new cool-kid cheat is to use a new form of network
manipulation, I don't know exactly what it does but the enemy can lag
YOU out of a game.

who're deliberately lagging players out, and we know about the software
and tools they use to do it. And guess what? We are banning them for
it. So if you know someone who thinks that method is foolproof, you
should warn them now."

He's talking about halo pc, not h2.

Whats your Graphics card? i hear the new update optimizes a few new cards and leaves some old ones in the dust. Of course this probably isnt true, but i heard it therefore it has to be repeated!
