A friend of mine recently got a new 1TB SATA SSD used as a secondary drive for storage of games that won't fit on his primary M.2 SSD. However, when trying to turn the computer on, it simply turns on for seemingly a millisecond then turns right back off again. The computer also performs this behavior when only the SSD's PSU cable is plugged in and not the SATA cable to the motherboard. We've tried returning his power supply in exchange for a new one and, after that still didn't work, getting a replacement SATA power cable, but those didn't solve the issue. We even tried plugging the SSD into my computer, and it booted up just fine and recognized the drive. We're really not sure what to do at this point; it can't be the PSU or PSU cable due to the unlikeliness of three cables in a row having the same issue, and it can't be the SSD since it worked just fine on my PC.
