This is a old config . Mostly my brother uses it .
Config :
msi g 41 p 33 combo (new motherboard)
core 2 duo e 8400 3.0Ghz
Transcend DDR 3 1600 Mhz 4 GB
WD Green 2.0 TB( new)
ADATA 650 W

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Problem :
My PC shuts down unexpectedly . By shutting down I mean it looks like somebody has pulled the electricity line. After again turning on it shows "Start Windows Normally".

Problem is whenever I try to open an application no matter how small it is like Windows Media Player or notepad it unexpectedly gets off. By off I mean like somebody has turned off the power switch. I kept my PC turned on for 6 hours , it worked fine at staying on desktop. However , when I opened media player It just shuts down .

I have tried testing the pc in bare-board set up to see if it was a short from casing. However , the problem still exists.

Help me please , before I loose all the hair in my head .

Might have something to do with you having the wrong ram for the board. Your board only supports up to 1333 ddr3 and you have 1600. You may have gotten confused when it says that it supports up to 1600 ddr2 ram which is different.

Thank you for your answer. The culprit was the power supply. Switched it with a new psu and system is running smooth.
