I have been thinking about upgrading my cpu but I'm not sure what cpu I should that best for its value at the moment, no matter what cpu I get I will have to get a new motherboard as I have an i7-7700k.
so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I have been looking at an ryzen 7 3800k or i7-10700k so that's around the price I have been looking at.
Thanks :)

Solution
I have no particular Z690 recommendation.
You get either DDR4 or DDR5 capable, no duo motherboards this time.
These things are so stupid fast, DDR4 or DDR5 today, needs a synthetic benchmark to differentiate.
I5-12600K is in the same price range, and is considerably stronger:

You will need a lga 1700 motherboard. Buy a DDR4 version so you can reuse your ram.
I have noted no significant difference in performance vs. ddr5.

No difference.
I get the K if the extra price is not great.
Integrated is handy for testing or graphics card problem isolation.
Thanks. last question do you have a good suggestion for a motherboard around £200 or is it something where waiting and spending a bit more would pay off, or just to get a cheaper one, then upgrade to ddr5 when it becomes more available?
