Question Pc Will not go to sleep

Hi, So recently I did few tweaks to my PC such as changing the rams. And it seems that my PC isn't able to go to sleep even after I used the old rams. in my Bios I have checked that the C-State is set to Auto. My motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth Z170S. I have checked all the Power Option in Windows and turned off all the ones that prevented my PC from sleeping. I can't figure out what's the problem and what's preventing my PC to fully go to sleep. So what occurs is that my Monitor goes all black but I can hear in the background that my PC is still indeed running still and for some reason my fans and the noise gets even louder than while it is running. I am certainty no expert but is the PC running in Hibernation State? Would could be the cause of this?

  1. Go to start menu and type "Edit Power Plan"
  2. Launch it and select "Restore default settings for this plan"
Hopefully that worked, if not, then i cant really help you out that much cause I have not seen or heard about this problem until now.

  1. Go to start menu and type "Edit Power Plan"
  2. Launch it and select "Restore default settings for this plan"
Hopefully that worked, if not, then i cant really help you out that much cause I have not seen or heard about this problem until now.

The restore default settings is greyed out and also I used to lose internet connection to games while I was in sleep. Now it just doesn't go to sleep.

Ok, reboot your computer and then try to restore default again. If that does not work, go to cmd (as administrator) and use the following command: "sfc /scannow" and reboot after finished . Then see if the problem continues.
 
I checked the information you initially posted and it says your motherboard does not support S1 Standby mode, so that apparently is not the cause as I thought... but other settings may be in conflict... you apparently have a Custom power plan running in the Windows Power Savings, but it is doesn't appear to be appropriately configured.... the Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report lists quite a few settings errors and warnings... a line on it says:
"The computer is not configured to automatically sleep after a period of inactivity"...
another line says: "CPU Utilisation: processor utilization is high"
and another says: "CPU Utilization: Individual process with significant processor utilization".
The information is too extensive to fully and efficiently analyze, so I would suggest go back and use the default Windows Power Plan (Balanced), and also restore the BIOS to the Failproof default settings, and only use custom settings after you fully understand what you're doing. For that, you may want to download the motherboard's PDF user manual (mobo manufacturer's model page > Support > Downloads) to individually check what each Power Saving BIOS settings mean, which hardware devices should be enabled or disabled so they don't keep the system running or wake it up when it should be sleeping. And for the Windows Power Saving Options, read a related Guide/Tutorial

how old is the PSU in your pc? depending on the age it may not support the C state instruction sets that modern intel CPU's have for standby mode

The PSU is 2 years old

ok so it seems that even after the Bios Reset. Nothing is changing so I'm assuming that removing the Cmos Battery out of my motherboard really fucked up my motherboard and it will never enter back to S3 Sleep State ever again? The default sleep mode in my Window Settings hasn't changed anything. I really loved that feature of Sleep and probably will try getting the Warranty replacement. If anyone has answers let me know or ran into the same problem. would be nice quite nice.

I tried contacting Asus Support and they've recommend me to go to BIOS -> Advanced -> APM Configuration -> ErP Ready -> Enabled (S4+S5) -> F10

And this so far hasn't done anything. Just clueless on what's the cause here. Could it be Bios Settings? Faulty Motherboard? or faulty power supply? I just doubt it's either one of those. Also Rams? Since I know The S3 State is supposed to Store data in my Rams when it enters sleep mode.

Update: Asus Told me to do another Cmos Reset again. And this time it was uncessful again. Now theirs only one thing I must make sure if it's either my Window Settings or my motherboard being unresponsive to the rams. I will have to test both. I will probably try doing a Clean Boot using the Windows 10 Media Creator USB to test the Sleep Mode. Otherwise, I will have to change my motherboard completely and this will take some time because I honestly want this Sleep feature to come back as I use it on a Daily Basis and Hibernate mode won't cut for me because it's about 5 second difference.

S4 is Hibernation and S5 is everything off... so that suggestion is useless. Only S3 should be Enabled. Yup tried all those settings, I think their is nothing I can do but maybe ask for Asus for an RMA
