[SOLVED] PC wownt boot in dual channel memory

Hey,
I've had my pc built from around July 2018 all working perfectly fine.My pc wownt boot into dual channel mode but i just put both ram sticks beside each other so the pc would still boot with 16gb ram vs 8gb.Is there anyway to fix this i updated the bios and tried each ramstick in each slot and they work singular but not together

how many ram sticks are you working with?

did you make sure you are putting them in the correct slots on your motherboard to enable dual channel mode?

also, did the sticks come in the same kit or are you mixing and matching ram?

Refer to your motherboard manual. In order to work in dual channel, your ram has to be in specific slots (typically slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4)

its a 2x8 ddr4 2400 mhz kit from corsair.I tried working them in dual channel mode from the start but they wouldnt even boot no post code or anything just a black screen(wouldnt go to bios or past black screen)

Looking through the motherboard manual i inserted them into the correct slots for dual channel but no luck :C

MOBO z370-p

using cpu-z and various other programs and looking through the manual it all says im running in single channel mode

if this is the same ram you have been using then it may have become defective. i would run a test on your ram with a program like memtest64 to check for any errors

In order to get dual channel operation, you need to populate both channels.
Your motherboard will tell you which two slots to use if you are installing only two sticks.

Is your ram from a single matched kit?
If not, that might be one cause.

Possibly your motherboard is faulty.
Or, I have seen where a bent pin in the cpu socket prevented dual channel operation.
Or, in a weird case, the processor was faulty.

Most of the time running single channel is not that big of an impact so 16gb single channel is not a bad option.

The gold standard for testing ram is memtest86.
You should be able to complete a full pass with NO errors.

i already ran a memtest for about 1hr and no faults were reported

during the instillation i did bend one pin but bent it back to place with a tweezers maybe thats the fault
