I want to buy the best ATI graphics card with 256MB RAM for a PCI slot (not PCI-e).
Kindly suggest me a good one which can play Directx9.0c games.
If anything can hinder me in future, please tell me about that also.
Pl help

The only card that springs to mind is the Radeon 9250, with 256mb RAM on PCI. However, that's only DX8.1 compat. You won't get a DX9.0C full-compat graphics card on PCI, I'm pretty sure.

does that means i won't be able to play newer games like nfsmw & gta san anreas with a pci slot g card

I play San Andreas with my 9200 64mb, so you should be okay. I haven't tried NFS:MW but I'm pretty sure it'd work. Wait for one or two others to reply, though.

Why can't you get an AGP/PCI-e card?

Pci is extremely limited with a max bandwidth of 133m/s which is shared between all pci devices including onboard sound but im not 100% sure. AGP offers a maximum of 2gb/s (or is it 1) so u really need at least AGP. But if you must have Pci I think there is a 9600 that is on Pci.

Im in Australia and the last I saw the 9600 was a couple months ago. I just checked and yes, we now only have the 9250 or the 9200se from ati and the fx5200 from nVidia. I really should have a look and make sure I am 100% current with what I say. My bad

I miss my old TNT 2 M64 pci card. i used to overclock it and occaisionally it would just show the outline of the polygons and no textures which would result in a performance boost 😀
