[citation][nom]Gin Fushicho[/nom]That's... good. I think people just need to be more open to change. People like Mac's because they don't change.[/citation]

I went shopping for a new laptop computer and all the PC's looked the same and had similar or exactly the same features. I bought a MacBook Pro because it was different. Magnetic power connector, aluminum unibody construction, 16x10 display, no protruding battery, large feature rich track pad, etc..

If Mac's never change then why are they so different from a PC? Have they always been better? Or have PC's laptops always been pathetic?

I see the same old arguments and lies against Apple on this site that is full of MS Fanboys. After using both for years I have to say my Macbook Pro is better than any Windows Laptop. With the ever increasing web threats if Apple was not around I would be running Ubuntu.

[citation][nom]JOSHSKORN[/nom]The only reason people buy MACs is because they don't know how to use a computer anyway and some MAC fanboy told them it's soo easy to use and "just works", yet they get it, ask for help and NOBODY knows how to use the damn thing.[/citation]
Sadly the "mainstream" computer user market isn't ready for computers.

[citation][nom]KageRyu[/nom]Man. I remember, I was so happy when I bought a ****** Dell that was being phased out in favor of the new Core 2 Duo comps. I was so...uneducated...5 years ago. Now, I've build my own computer and I'm happy as hell. I feel sad whenever I see someone with a Dell/Alienware/HP/Acer Desktop. At the same time, I laugh at the people who bought a Mac desktop. (b^_^)b[/citation]
Ran Ubuntu for two years before getting my Macbook Pro. I do not know of anyone who buys Apple desktops except professionals since they are designed for them. The Mac Pro uses Xenon processors and ECC memory you sarcastic little turd.

It's called WindowBlinds & I think they use it already ;-) If HTC can get away with calling Windows theirs, so can you! Yes you can Steve Jobs, yes you can! If you could with BeOS, you can do it with Win, although Ubuntu would be cheaper to rip off & get away with it.

[citation][nom]deweycd[/nom]Well said, if Apple show that they can make a computer that is original, unique, and inivative then I will vote for them. However, if they just keep trying to relable existing products (using intel, amd, nvidia, etc.) and calling them their own, then they are worse then Microsoft who doesn't claim laptops/desktops as being their own but rather just the OS. Apple needs to tell their consumers their truth that they are producing the same product you can get from HP/Dell/etc. but that they have installed their own OS rather then installing windows. With apples development and focus on their OS, or lack of, I wouldn't be supprised to see them install windows in the next few years. They will still sell and Apple computer but call it "magical" and have it sell just as well even if you can buy the same from HP/Dell/etc., or better, for half the price.[/citation]

When it comes to Mac it is the high cost that is the turn off and what makes them unattractive. Why should one pay double for a Mac when a pc with the same specs is less than half the price and both are crappy in the end? Hardware quality of Macs is like the PC only good at he best of times. Every thing from bad caps to poor cooling. In the end I don't roll Mac due to cost and limited upgradibility.

i like both mac and pc altho i prefer pc couse im much more use to it and can all the fast key and little stuff to make it easier. i actualy has only ownd a old mac from my scool, The one whit a built in not flat screen. altho it did porly when all to much happent it still loaded the operation system 2 times as fast whit a 5 times slower mac then my pc and it worked great. but the big thing for me is simply i love games and i love to get more for the buck and then you need to go to pc and build your own rig. then you mai add the mac is faster ewen tho it got less in it. yes but only the operation system when you render and do work whit hig loads like avs video converter your out of luck in an instance

How much cheaper would it beOS to rip off a Linux Distro, get Silverstone or Lian Li to make the exterior, modify the USB-HDMI-SATA cables ever so slightly (but just enough to make your stuff only able to use your substandard connectors), & only have your software run on hardware where the BIOS is supported & also has a whitelist of hardware it can use?

Much cheaper than making it yourself, you'll also have enough left over to hire a staff of Indian Telemarketers & use Bollywood as a way of making it trendy...

I never understood the Vista bashing. I never had a problem with it and 7 really isn't that much different.

It was just a fad to bash Vista. Probably started by some Apple kids.

Vista did have some scaling issue with hardware. It tended to work well on higher end systems but did bog down the system when using low end hardware. Win 7 did a much better job working across the range and fixing a few other issues that vista did have. Overall they general user probably couldn't see much of a difference unless they were running low end hardware. The mass hysteria that Vista is horrible was a marketing campain used by Apple to promote their product as being better. Since the release of Win 7 Apple has canceled their Vista bashing ads and begun focusing more on the iPhone/iPod/iPad product lines.

More than likely it was started by online tech publications which influenced the less knowledgeable "experts" who then spread their "experience" with their friends and family.

I never liked MLM & always insisted that it was just a nicer way of saying pyramid. So what is Apple, if it isn't hype, hysteria, lawyers, & things made by other people?

Operating systems have not added significant new features since Win95. To the average user that opens apps, etc., they still work about the same way. BUT they work better. The OS's have evolved, gradually improving little things here and there, and they are a little more reliable.

I was happy with Win98SE when we first got it about 10 years ago. It had a few problems but mostly did what we wanted it to do. We got XP and it was a little better. Now I have 7 and it is a little better. (I also have Apple snowcat but I prefer 7 for normal use. There are a few things about snowcat that I like better than 7, but mostly I like 7 better.)

The other half of this equation is that hardware is getting better and better. I have processors now that are much faster than before. Even the dual core pentium in my ultralight low voltage notebook is several times faster than the CAD workstation that I was running until a year ago.

Now as to Apple hardware, the only one I have experience with is my Mac Mini, and there are several aspects to it that absolutely SUCK. So I don't know what happened to the Apple engineers when they designed it. Maybe they were on drugs or zoning out while starting at large photos of Jobs, but any PC engineer anywhere on earth could likely have done better.

Funny thing is, my Mini and my desktop computer cost virtually the same amount. My desktop is a quad core at 3.8GHz, with 750GB hard drive. The mini is 2 GHz with 2GB of memory and 320GB hard drive. OTOH the mini is smaller than the POWER SUPPLY in my desktop computer. Setting on top of the Antec 300 case, it looks like it should be a little router or something like that, and not a full blown computer.

[citation][nom]Parsian[/nom]There is no iPhone 4G, there is iPhone 4.[/citation]

4g means 4th generation iphone. You knew what he meant and just wanted to nit pick since you didn't have anything better to say.

If Apple users are so happy with their OS, why do the 6 powerbook users I know spend pretty much ALL of their time using Win7 through bootcamp? Apple makes pretty products and that is a major reason many people buy them. I don't have a problem with it, but can we at least be honest? Apple stuff doesn't do anything you can't do with a less expensive product. The less expensive product is probably less shiney. Speaking from experience, when you buy Apple, you are paying for the design, not the capability.

I have to agree 110% if their shiny MAC OS is so much better than Windows then why is it they install Windows on the MACs using bootcamp. If their OS is so great why would they need to use Windows in the first place shouldn't their own OS do everything that is needed for them.

[citation][nom]molo9000[/nom]Hardware, operating system, drivers and service from the same company just makes for a complete package.[/citation]
Do you think they write all the drivers themselves, magically make all the hardware that goes into the computers/iphones/ipods, and are somehow immune to the problems that occur during mass assembly?

[citation][nom]Sabiancym[/nom]I never understood the Vista bashing.[/citation]

Vista is crap, it ran slow on most new latops; however, Windows 7 can run on netbooks.
The UAC in Vista would come up if you did anything at all with the computer, though it is partially fixed now.

So if you want pretty, get Porsche or BMW to design it, let Silverstone or Lian Li to make it, get Paris Hilton or Justin Bieber to walk around with it, & get everyone who signed up with a MLM contract to sell it.

As for hardware, make sure your software only works on your hardware, & everything you need to add has to be a branded value added "genuine" product.

If you can get Puppy Linux to look smart, all you need is to get people to make stuff you sell through you APP store & make sure if anyone tries to copy it that the computer explodes or the cops kick your doors in. That way, you can use really crappy hardware & make people think it runs so very fast.

(Of course this is over exaggerated, mean, & biased) But he might as well...

Personal computers have come such a long way !
Remember those times, when whatever the price you paid for your PC or Mac, it always started to lag once you installed some softwares on it and even brand-new, it couldn't play many games decently due to low FPS.
Those times are gone. Those last years, the OS's evolved without requesting too much extra power so the hardware was able to catch-up with the requirements (be it Windows 7 or the latest MacOS X releases). Even budget friendly computers are now nice to use.
For the Windows vs Mac war, they serve different needs, different publics. They both use ideas from each other (like the taskbar below the screen: it came from OS2/Windows NT, apple took over the concept but made it look nice in MacOSX and now Windows 7 also has a "sort of") and at the end of the day, all systems have improved substancially.

I think its because the technology has finally reached a "real" heavy hitter price/performance ratio. For example I spent $550+tax on an i3 4GB 500GB laptop much earlier this year for a B-day gift to a parent. Not only does it fly now, but it'll still be going strong for years to come. You can literally pop this thing open and be on the net in 15 seconds.

[citation][nom]AMW1011[/nom]The only reason someone buys a Mac is because it suites their professional needs or they are one of those people who buy into the marketing and the perceived elitism of Apple products. The former is going to be happy because he bought it specifically for one of its strengths that he knew about going in, and is likely pretty well informed. The latter wasn't thinking objectively to begin with.Anyway, with all the sh*ty budget PCs out there, I think a 77% satisfaction rate is extremely commendable.[/citation]

I disagree. Vista was awful if only for the UAC. I have never had so many problems with anything computer related than with that. No way to turn it off, and no way to install certain programs. I wonder if it was only a ploy to sell more OSes sooner though...

[citation][nom]nesto1000[/nom]Apple is high up there because the apple fanboys can't say anything bad about their "perfect" Mac computer...[/citation]This kind of thinking is nauseating. The fact it received 20 thumbs up is just vile. To not give Apple credit, where credit is due... is just plain ignorance.
