The internet is full of people replacing the fans that come with the H100i and, well all of the Corsair Hydro series water coolers really. So what I'd like to know is how much of a performance drop do you see after doing this, after all the stock fans have an amazing pressure rating of 4mm-H20, none of the quiet fans I've seen have anywhere near that, even the Quiet High pressure fans Corsair sell are only 1.29mm/H20.

Solution

If you are going to invest ~ 100 into the cooler, ~30 for fans and who knows how much for modifying. Why don't you get this 360mm Radiatore Custom Loop kit from XSPC]

:)
I know what you mean most of my friends think that I am a little crazy, but I enjoy water cooling it is a fun hobby, and I get to clock my hardware for some extra performance as a result. I get a kick out of that. But really it is all for fun, if I did not enjoy it, I would not do it. Pulse I have new hardware to look forward to, with the release of 4K monitors the PC gaming industry, the games just got a whole lot better, so I need to start thinking about how to build a system that can handle that extreme resolution.

Will mine be able to run 4K games?...I hope so, I probably should have listed my components somewhere, whoops, I have the ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO motherboard, and a Corsair series 3 SSD I think it's a series 3 anyway.
I want to try out 3D too, I bet that'd be great, I'd need a new TV/monitor then though, and with the 4K TV's just coming out that should make the 3D TV's much much cheaper so I will likely pick one up then after my credit card has had some major rest and relaxation, it's bruised and battered and has a gimpy virtual leg at the moment.

Nice.

now onto my next question, do I need three shrouds?...I will start at the bottom and work up, ooooh baby! (I'm losing the plot!) anyway, fans, then shroud, then radiator, then shroud, then fans, then shroud (to reduce the sound of the air hitting the honeycomb mesh), that can't be right can it, it'll be like a chimney!.

I can't see that fitting inside the 800D case though, I will get me tape measure out and check plus if I put it inside it will be pulling up heat straight from the graphics cards, it would need to be outside the case really wouldn't it?...

EDIT: maybe I should just cut the honeycomb vents out?...

For 60FPS on 4K, you'll need i7-4770k or 8350. And two R9 290x watercooled. (Performs 2FPS less than 780ti at 4k-and 780ti is 150 more so yea lol)
And fast RAM, like 2600-simply because the newer games requiring more RAM usage LOVE fast RAM. 1600-2400, BF4 saw a 20FPS increase.

And then you need to double that and send it my way  HAHA just kidding :)

Grommets are the pads that fill the holes for wiring and prevent heat from behind the motherboard coming into the build where the wires come from. Gaskets seal off gaps between components. :)

I KNEW THAT!, I was just checking YOU knew that!...no really

Yeah that'll put the intake right above the graphics card, ah heck, if I could mod that Lian Li PCI cooler to intake air from the rear of the case though that would provide cool air to the radiator, hmmmm

Well, since it is a custom loop. You can mount it on the outside :)

I did NOT know that!, what I just get longer tubes or something, my case has grommets for the tubes to go through too, RESULT

That's so bad it looks good!, like some kind of H.R. Giger art thingy.

There are three loops there, at that time, one for the CPU, one for the video cards, and the other was for the MOBO, SSD's and memory. I have two of the loops rebuilt already, the CPU, and video cards loops are complete. I am currently working on the rebuild for the third loop it will cool the memory and SSD's.

Very nice indeed, you've literally got everything covered then hey.

Also another question, why dont closed loop water coolers need to be maintained?...I mean you have to monitor and check and clean them out say twice a year but with the Corsair H---'s you don't have to, surely they're both basically the same at heart?...

a good closed loop cooling unit, will fail after about 3 years, you can try to extend this by adding upgrades to the units, but be that time this is done and money spent on it, it would have been a better trade off to start with a unit that could be upgraded later more easily, without the use of good modding skills to make a CLC into a system with a inline res upgraded pump and so on this would be impossible.

Thanks mate, and Thanks everyone who helped out, you're a good bunch, I better mark this thread as solved now then I suppose, but I don't want to offend whoever I don't select!, rest assured that it will be selected by a flip of a coin, well my trolley token actually, will it be Jake or will it be toolmaker......drum roll....

Your welcome-but you won't believe what just happened. My desktop is done for now, don't get 331.65 drivers if you have nvidia. It just killed my GPU-I had no OC going. I was replying to this, my sound went away then video. Now it boots with green and black on POST. -.- Only nvidia...(Like the Drivers that stopped fans from working)

So now I'm on this crappy laptop.
