Hello everyone,

I have been experiencing persistent issues with my Windows 11 system affecting both printing and updates for several weeks. Despite trying various solutions, the problem persists. Below, I outline the specific problems and actions I have already taken:

Issues:
1. System freezes when printing:
- Every time I try to print a PDF, the browser freezes. Temporarily, I resolve this by restarting the Print Spooler service, but the issue reoccurs the next time I print.
- The same issue occurs in Excel when copying cells. Excel freezes, and only restarting the Print Spooler service allows me to continue, but the problem reappears.

2. Windows update failures:
- Several updates have failed to install for weeks, including:
- Windows 11, version 23H2: Download error (0x80248007).
- KB4023057: Download error (0x80248007).
- HP USB driver (49.0.4411.18331): Install error (0x80070103).

3. Event Viewer errors:
- I see recurring errors in Event Viewer related to BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) and DeviceSetupManager:
- BITS error: "A new BITS job could not be created. The current job count (60) has reached the specified limit."
- DeviceSetupManager error: "Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490."
- Kernel-Power error: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first."

Actions taken so far:
1. Cleared print spooler queue using the command:
Remove-Item -Path "$env:systemroot\System32\spool\printers\*" -Force -Recurse
2. Updated and reinstalled all printer drivers.
3. Cleared the clipboard and uninstalled third-party printing software.
4. Tried manual installation of updates, but they continue to fail.
5. Ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, but neither resolved the issue.

System Details:
- OS: Windows 11 (version 22H2, attempting to update to 23H2).
- Most recent errors: Exported from Event Viewer (detailed above).
- Affected services: Print Spooler, BITS, DeviceSetupManager, Kernel-Power.

Relevant Driver Information:
usbprint: Microsoft USB PRINTER (Stopped)
WSDPrint: WSD Print Support (Stopped)
...

I am looking for guidance on how to proceed since these issues are severely impacting my system's functionality. Are there any other potential solutions or known issues with these updates that I should consider?

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

Make and model printer?

What is the system's default printer?

Noted that you looked in Event Viewer: also take a look in Reliability History/Monitor.

Much more end user friendly than Event Viewer and the timeline format may reveal some pattern.

Also regarding:

"The start type of the Servicio de transferencia inteligente en segundo plano (BITS) service was changed from inicio automßtico to inicio por solicitud."

Google translator =

"The start type of the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service was changed from automatic start to request start."

Did you make any such changes?

= = = =

In Task Manager > Services what is BITS status?

(Remember to right click BITS etc. via the Status column for more details.)

Startup type?

OS: Windows 11 (version 22H2, attempting to update to 23H2).
simple answer
Download the windows media creation tool from the 2nd link here which says
Create Windows 11 Installation Media
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

Make installer on USB
Once installer made, put it in PC that is currently not updating and navigate to USB drive in File Explorer and run setup.exe
It should offer to update the current install.

It skips 23H2 since we on 24H2 now. Probably fixes the Windows update errors... not sure about HP drivers though.

updating to 24H2 is easiest choice as many fixes would rely on having an ISO that matches currently installed one, and MS only giving out 24H2 now.
