Hi, :hello:

WoW!!! 3D Mark score: 14,006 4cores, up from 12,349 2cores, CPU 4682 4cores up from 2641 2cores...both are at stock CPU 3.1 Ghz. & stock CPU Fan [temp 47c during 3D Mark test] OS: WinXP Pro 32bit 😍

I noticed that videl was reinstalling Windows a couple times. Is it common practice to reinstall windows after running certain benchmarking applications?

Not really but some peeps feel there is a need to wipe the HD and make sure every thing is in place (programs).... You dont have to reinstall multiple times as long as you make sure you have what you need (no bloatware).....IMO....

Jim, Congrats on your "home-made quad"...
Nice scores by the way...very close to mine...
I know, the temps are high...but the max recommended temp for this CPU is 70 Celsius...so you should be fine...Anyway, isn't it great to have a quad? especially when you only paid 100 bucks for it?!?!!!

Hi, :hello:

Thank you videl for your thread 😍

Thanks to All who contributed to this thread you all made it happen :wahoo:

4 Cores and I'm only 67 years young what's next, hmmm lets OC it a bit. I will be getting Windows 7 64bit for my birthday this November !!!! How does 3.5GHz sound ? Ok now how do I do it safely without blowing this 4core gaming rig?

Edit: Btw I did flash my BIOS in order to get the EC up so I could change it to Hybrid.

67 years young and he unlocked a 550!!!!!!!! now that's what I call a man on a mission!!!! Kudos to you and remember to ask ANYTHING, that's what we are here for.....BTW your quote (under your pic) is priceless.......

3.5 is good...Here's how you do it: raise the multiplier by .5x (CPU Clock Ratio) at a time, until you reach the desired speed. The multiplier by default is set on 15.5x to achieve the 3.1 speed. You can get the CPU stable at 3.4 without voltage changes...I had to add .075 volts to get it 3.5 stable...so at 3.4v it should be stable at 3.5Ghz...be sure to use a good cooler...good luck :)

On the first page, meodowla's post with the 3dmark screenies...

6000+ @ 3.3 = 2507 3dmark
550BE @ 3.1 = 2506 3dmark

Now that is a stock 550 compared to a 200-300mhz OC'd Athlon (depending on Windsor or Brizzy) but that is still really close.

I just expected there to be more of a gap?

I am in complete agreement with the the DDR3 but am still amazed at the 3dmark result. I need to go home and 3dmark my 5600+ @ 3.2.. i think it's at a high 2400~

the 6000+ might get a close enough score when overclocked...but no, the phenom II X2 550 is way better...especially with 6 megs of L3 cache!!!In real world performance and even in benchmarks the phenom II X@ 550 will beat the 6000+ easy...especially when overclocked...When overclocked high, the 550 get scores as high as the tricores at stock!!!

Good luck with overclocking your 5600+, Kithzaru...I would expect scores of 2200-2500...but we'll see...post them up when you're done testing...and again, good luck.

Will do =D

I've got her running at 3.2 right now. Next pay check = Xigmatech Cooler (or that Sunbeam one) and the Scythe Fan controller that OvrClkr recommended to me, then, then we shall see!

Of course I meant stock, now overclock the 550 to 3.3Ghz and bench again.....

Hi, :hello:

Could some one give me step by step how to increase the CPU Voltage...I'm getting a RED Warning message:

System Voltage Not Optimized

Also which do u recommend for 3.5GHz:

#1 Increase the Multiplier only...[This is not stable at this time for me.]
#2 Increase the FSB only
#3 Or a little of each ?
