Plague of problems with computer.

So about a week ago I built my new computer, specs are here:

Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
Asus Z87-PLUS
1TB HDD
XFX 650W Core Edition PSU
i5 4670k @3.4ghz
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

So after I finished building it, the computer would start up and just shut down after a few seconds, I solved this by replacing the motherboard. However, a day after that I noticed that sometimes when I pressed the power button, nothing would happen. To fix this, I had to turn off the power to the power supply, hold down the power button for 1 minute and then turn it on. This has stopped happening recently, as for the last week it has turned on first try.

Now I come to my latest problem. My computer will randomly shut itself off and back on again. I have checked the temperatures and they are fine, my max temps are 50 degrees. Also, normally when it turns off it is when I am browsing the net and the computer is underclocking the CPU to save power. I have also changed the settings so that it doesn't restart after a power failure, but it still does it...

Another thing is that when I turn on my computer, the first thing that comes up is an error saying CPU Fan Error, Press F1 to fix. However, my temps are fine. I have changed the BIOS to ignore the CPU Fan temp, and I have turned off the C states and I am running it now to see if it's stable.

Can anyone offer any more solutions. It might be the PSU but it's brand new and it's not a low quality PSU or anything so I don't know what could be wrong...

brand new items can be faulty bro it may have a manufacturing defect .....i also think its the psu but there could be a chance that the mobo is also faulty....so if the psu is brand new rma it...

My old Mobo was faulty, what are the chances that the replacement mobo is also faulty? I think it's the PSU as well, it just happened again. Ebuyers returns are fucked though and when I went to return my mobo they didn't accept it as they said that the pins were bent even though I checked them thoroughly and they weren't...

I guess I must be really unlucky to get two faulty parts in one computer :/

So I realised that in my BIOS, the Cpu Fan Low limit was set to 600RPM. I did this because I thought that would then be the lowest the fan is able to go, therefore keeping it cooler. However, I now realised that that means that if it dips below that number the system thinks something is wrong. The Hyper 212 EVO fans dip under 600 when it isn't on load. Could that be why it used to constantly shut off? I changed that and it hasn't shut off the whole of today.

I would change to 550 rpm and try it under heavy load to see if it powers off if it does I would return the psu and replace it. if the psu is failing it would cause all of those symptoms. xfx is a good psu just be sure its at least 80+ bronze rated

It's been running for atleast 7 hours now no sudden reboot. However I'm going to test it for a few more days because it could just be luck :/

Spoke too soon 🙁 Just suddenly shut off again, I don't think the fans dipped under 600 either. Is there a possibility it could be RAM? I just used my computer for gaming for over 4-5 hours just now and nothing happened, when it did shut off I had left the room and it was idle on the internet.

as i said before the mobo you got has a manufacturing defect or the psu is creating the problems.......check the ram using a memtest....the cpu by prime 95 for 1 hr the gpu by furmark 20 - 30 min and scan the hdd for bad sectors check every thing one at a time see if the restarts happen in between one of those tests ...

So my computer used to just shut off and reboot, but after I ran a CHKDSK check, everything reported fine, half an hour later I got BSOD. I never got BSOD's before and what it said was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

From some research I found it it's a RAM issue. Can this be fixed or do I have to replace the RAM?

ugh so now I have to replace RAM and PSU? All of my BSODs are being caused by a driver called NTOSKRNL.exe

I also can't seem to use Memtest86 for some reason, it says missing operating system and boots straight into windows, I've tried everything. Windows Memory Diagnostic doesn't find any errors on the RAM, and the PSU issue is still there. When I tried playing Witcher 2, within 5 minutes the whole PC shut down and restarted, however now I'm also getting random BSODs.

None of this was happening for the first week or so when I used this computer? I find it EXTREMELY unlikely that I got faulty RAM, PSU and Mobo. I think there's something else causing this.

its best formatt your machine and reinstall the os......i dont think all the parts of the pc is bad one particular part is creating the problems...the NTOSKRNL.exe error is basically because of power spikes and drops for the ram and other hardware wich usally happens due to unstaable OC so if u had overclocked your system then set it to default .....

Here's an update. I've so far gone 2 -3 days without a random power off. What I changed was I took the power out of my Belkin Surge Protector Extender thingy and plugged it into the wall outlet. Hopefully that's fixed it.

As for the BSOD's, I've gone so far 1 day without a BSOD. What I changed for that was I ran some sort of Intel updater and it told me my ethernet driver needed to be updated. I also deleted stuff like AVG and Kaspersky and got Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. Hopefully it will stay stable like this.

I'll continue testing it for a week or so, fingers crossed :O
