hmm the vintage of planetside seemed to wear off after a few solid weeks of playing. I could hardly say that it would be worth the $13/month.
Don't get me wrong, it's a really cool concept, and it's executed well. However there seems to be some lacking features which would improve the value of gameplay. I guess one of the most repedative features is the re-capping of all the different fortresses/basses (whatever). You could spend 8hrs closing off a continent and then go to sleep, and by the morning all your team's hard work and efforts are crushed as ppl from differen't timezone's and places in the world come online while it's 4am where you are located.
The other thing that was a big let down is the fact that there's no real reward for capturing a continent. You'd think that they would add something in for the ridiculous amount of time which all the squads put forth to lockdown a continent. Instead, all you get is temporary bragging rights.
I'm still not sure why NC is so nerfed compared to the TR who as uber 1337 MAX's and the Vanu who have deadly lazer weapons, they just seem to be the most unbalanced team of the three.
What was nice the fact that it would take a commendable amount of XP (experienced, earned in combat, like D2) to get implants and the 'better' weapons. This enforces a lot of gameplay and time before a player can have a weapon that isn't uber-weak like the ones you get to start out with.
I also liked the idea of the difference between rank (XP to level up) and command rand (must lead a squad, and be effective: cap to level up). The commanding abilities are very cool in the game, and definately worth the looooooooooong wait while you are training.
Vehicles make this game what it is, I love them, they are all pretty cool and useful. And let's not for get the HART, also an exellent idea, that works quite well when no one can fly around an entire squad.
Well enough of my boring post, ask questions if u wanna know more i guess...
Oh, btw, I've never heard of teamgod.net =p but then again, i stepped away from most publicly served online games after all the uber-cheating broke out. It's just sad that the only way to keep things serious is p2p =(.
*insert rant here*
