Please comment/check on my build for budget gaming pc

Note: this pc will be for budget gaming pc, and this is my first time building a system so please give comments/recommendations, also please CHECK the compatabilty issues for the mobo-cpu-gpu-ram. i think that all of the stuff i listed here are compatible with each other but please double check it for me. thanks

dont need optical drive.. also which monitor do you prefer? not too big probably 22 inch?.quick question, does OCing really shorten your GPU/cpu life span??

Looks decent. I always search by best rating then buy according to that, saves me a lot of trouble.

I would say 22 inch monitor max because the video card isn't terribly powerful, but it depends on what games you play. What games do you plan on playing? I currently use a 22 inch monitor with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 and I use a gtx 570.

I would recommend you that you upgrade the i5-2500 to the i5-2500k as it would give you a very large headroom for overclocking (if you're into it) A few bucks extra dont harm now. Considering the long life they're sure to provide.

As for the motherboard i would recommend an SLI/Crossfire ready motherboard in case you need some more power. A p67 board would suffice. something like this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130583

The i5-2500k doesn't support RAM of more 1333 so going for a 1600 would be a total waste, go for the patriot rams as they are pretty good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220480
you could add more ram in future. btw, the 1.5v are in line with the sandy bridges

The graphic card should be fine for resolutions upto 1080p. if you can spend some extra money, buy a 6950, you can OC them to 6970 levels. bang for the buck.

i would suggest getting an SSD as the boot drive cuz they really speed things up. but since you're on a budget, i dont know if you can spend the extra money.

And the PSU is more than sufficient even if you x-fired it a 6870 in the long run, or even if you x-fired 6950's. dont bother about that.

Please include the budget, as it makes it easier to give suggestions.

IMO - that's not the way to buy computer components. If you look closer a lot of the reviews are when people first get the items so they're more likely to get five-starred. Look at the 2 and 3 star reviews and you'll see what issues are most commonly associated with certain products. That's the way to do it.

That depends on the OP's budget. I always recommend pairing an SSD with a secondary storage option but they're really expensive right now for cost/GB. If the budget is less than $1K I'd say no, over $1K I'd say yes easily.

Looks pretty good but these would be my suggestions:

1. Pay the extra money and get a full size ATX board. Micro ATX will severely limit your expansion options later on and that board will not allow for SLI or Crossfire, or any RAM capacities above 8GB. Try this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271

the total of what i listed on the first post was 730+ish, however i may go a little beyond that maybe less than 800 but im hoping not more..

also about the psu. what wattage is sufficient for both sli/x-fire and non-dualgpu systems? also consider the onboard fans on the case i think 3 fans.

Most GPUs are OC'd out of the box but some manufacturers like EVGA (their Precision control panel is quite excellent) and Sapphire give you additional tools to tweak it a little better than some manufacturers do.

Usually most wattage calculators suggest the bare minimum for what you need. Add an extra 100W if you plan to add a second video card down the road and another 50W if you plan to overclock and/or run additional fans.

Most people usually can, but I was also a naysayer until I got one - on my workstation I can do tasks in like 1/3 the time of what it used to take me with a mechanical drive as the primary. On my home system it will boot up and be up and running in 1/2 a minute, and on redraw intensive games like Arkham Asylum you will definitely notice a huge difference.

A 6950 would beat a 560 Ti anyday in any terrain. The headroom for overclocking is insane.

@g-unit1111 : he isn't talking about the wattage. lol. i got confused at first too! but later realized that, that's his budget!

it isn't recommended getting the cheapest for a matter of 20-30$. you can OC obviously, but higher clocks means you have a larger headroom for oc'ing! So get the one with higher clocks. or get a twin frozr iii as they have really good fans. which basically means you can oc it more. 😉

Get i5-2500K if you are overclocking the CPU and you also need an aftermarket cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or 212+. If not overclocking get the i5-2400.
Grab a 8GB(2x4GB) RAM kit instead of a 2x2GB set.
Normally a 500w PSU is enough for a single GPU and if dual GPUs, a 700w PSU. You may want to go a little higher if overclocking, like add 50w. It also depends on the GPU cards.
I would look at ATX motherboards, like g-unit said. The z68 is better, but maybe look at p67s and h67s to get a better board for less.
