Hello,

Im attempting to install a hyper 212 plus heatsink on an AMD mobo.. i followed these directions..

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/air-cooling/21525-coolermaster-hyper-212-plus-amd-installation-clearance.html

and everything went smooth until i tried to fasten down the retaining bracket.. it seems as though if i line up any one arm and start threading the screw into the standoff , the other arms pull away from their standoffs.. i can force it to comply but im thinking that is putting too much pressure on the cpu.

heres a pretty clear view of my dilemma:

anyone have any advice?? id love to get this thing bolted down before i give up for tonight

That's because you have to just barely start one and switch to another criss-cross/diagonally across.
Which you aren't doing.
Also you must count how many turns for each screw if you want even pressure.
Hand tighten the center pressure nut after the tension screws are done.
Quite simple really.

Just looked at the pics. That looks about right for what I've seen (I've done 3 Hyper 212+es). Once you get then all started, go around and tighten each screw a little at a time in a way to try to keep the pressure even. Think of the correct way to tighten lug nuts on a car.

you guys are the best,, its in and tight.. and i nailed the arctic silver application with the business card.. i was kind of anxious about that

.. quick question,. as i was fastening the brace on the back of the mobo, the adaptor flew off my screwdriver as i moved my arm and Binged the back of the motherboard.. no noticable damage.. it would have to crack something to damage it.. ..right..?
