Si in my pc now i have a celeron g1610 I also have a 2500K laying around....


My question is can i just swap these processoers out *Take out the g1610 and then insert the 2500k*

and just turn on my pc and use it???

They are of the same socket type (FCLGA1155 Socket and LGA1155), so thats good.
What motherboard do you have? You will need to check its compatibility with the 2500k.
.. may be fine, may need a BIOS update, may be incompatible.
Also, you'll likely have to reinstall Windows and re-register it

yep, that board should be just fine with the cpu, but like dudio said, you will probably need to reinstall windows, make sure you have a recovery disk made!

i dont but couldnt i just run the windows 10 troubleshooter on startup and hit refresh and reinstall???

windows likes to need repair/ fresh install after certain things change

You're fine. It shouldn't need a reinstall from a cpu change.

It should always be replaced if the heatsink is removed.

no the mobo has one its justa stock intel headsink

im not overclocking btw im just doing this because the g1610 is awfully slow and horrible

yeah, the 2500k is a very big upgrade! and the stock cooler for the celeron should work, but i would watch your temps, just cause the stock coolers look the same doesnt mean they are!

I would be very dubious about the celeron cooler being good enough for the I5

It should have the aluminium core which isn't as good as the copper core that came with the 2500k. Just watch temps.
