Hi.

I finished setting up my first ever self-built system last week (after a few hiccups). I changed some specs based on some of the input I got here (thanks again). I'll be using it mostly for gaming and internet browsing, but also for movies and some Photoshop.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
HSF: Asus Arctic Square CPU
Motherboard: Asus Rampage Formula
GPU: Sapphire 4870 X2
Memory: 4 x Corsair 2GB dual channel DDR2 800MHz (8GB total)
HDD: 1TB Seagate 7200rpm
Case: Gigabyte 3D Aurora (black)
Monitor: 24" Asus MK241H (1920x1200 native)
OS: Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Please give me your honest opinions and advise me whether or not to overclock.

Thanks.

looks like a pretty nice rig, what is your psu? if its near factory requirements for the build you're not going to want to oc but if its got power to spare some oc'ing never hurt anyone...so long as they knew how to do it.

^ u have still not overclocked ur q6600 :O that too with asus rampage board... very bad...q6600s are ment for overclocking... u could hit 3.4GHZ easy with just adjusting the FSB to 400MHZ with no core voltage change...pls do some justice to ur rig....overclock it...give the q6600 and the asus rampage some respect...

Hahaha! Thanks for that.

I honestly have only thus far been reading about overclocking and have never attempted it yet. Your post was encouraging, though, so I'll get right on that (probably over the weekend).

evongugg, thanks, but as kurtyboh, I'm typing this on the rig I mentioned above 😉

kurtyboh, thank you for your input.
