did you install srs wow effect or any 3rd party software for gaming?

Malware can do that, yes. Use malwarebytes to remove them. Link has already been given.

Also, does this happen with every game or just AOE3?

It could happen to every game plus it does all kinds of weird stuff when you are surfing or just working off line.

I once had a malware that kept my screen to blink furiously while gaming and while surfing. It was so annoying. But malware bytes removed it and it's all back to normal now.
