Hello there,

i have a STRAIGHT POWER 10 500W power supply from "be quiet!" with 80 plus gold certified and after i calculate my specs on a power supply calculator site i got the results of a Recommended PSU Wattage: 615 W.
The thing is that my computer runs without problem so far even though i have smaller amount of watt.
Do you think that i should buy i new power supply or it is "ok" with that?
Those are my specs:
Motherboard : MSI X99S GAMING 7
CPU : Intel Core i7-5820K
Memory : 16GB DDR 4 (4* 4GB )
Video Card : Evga gtx 1080ti
Storage : 1* SSD , 1* SATA 10k RPM
Keyboard / Mouse : Gaming Keyboard / Gaming mouse
Other Devices (USB, LED, Controllers, etc.) : 3* USB 2.0 , 1* USB 3.0
Fans : 3* 120mm , 1* 140mm
Liquid Cooling Kit : Corsair hydro 110i
Monitor : LG 34"

Best regards
Roberto

No, get a 650W or better PSU.

Yes, that's fine.

I was also thinking the same thing but i did not want to risk any of my hardware.
Thanks though for the advice.

You would have been wrong and would have had issues.

500W PSU isn't near enough for that system.

Min for any PC with a GTX 1080Ti would be 650W PSU.

A GTX 1080Ti can pull well over 300W by itself depending on the actual card.

The 5820K can pull 190W or more depending...

Overclocked sure. Again, gaming load would be ~400W. I admit it's at the upper edge of what I'd do. Assuming his PSU has the plugs for it he should be ok. As I said in my OP, no OCing.

Here is a 1080TI and a 6900K with a similar 140W TDP as the OPs 5820K. At the wall they are pulling sub 400W while gaming. The actual system needs are less than 383W. The 383 is what their kill a watt type device is telling them. Again, running stock he isn't going to get a gaming load higher than 400W. Obviously you can do something crazy and pull 600W easy with such a setup. But I can also see limping along with his 500W until he can replace it. No fun in having a K CPU and leaving it stock right?

That's a reference card, the partner cards pull more power, especially the higher end ones
