So on PcPartsPicker my build estimated wattage of 244.

I have seen a lot of build running a Corsair 430 watt power supply...

This is my build... Can someone recommend a better PSU or is the one i chose ok? I went with a Semi Modular so i could have a little better cable management... would love to go with a Fully modular PSU but their expensive... 🙁

Anyways, let me know what ya think, comment, explore, recommend...

Solution
For that build would this one be good enough,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cs450m
other option for having more power,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii620bronze
this last one is only necessary when wanting to upgrade to a high end gpu.

Other option for a better gpu,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/his-video-card-h270qm2g2m
the first psu would still be good with this gpu.

To save money a cheaper cpu cooler,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/zalman-cpu-cooler-cnps10xoptima

A different build with these (and other) changes,
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XVfjsY

If you don't want to overclock the cpu,

chose this gpu because of this thread...

Solution
So which GPU is better? I am gonna open a GPU thread because i thought mine was pretty good....

Mine....

they fall almost within the same price range so price isn't a factor here.... Just wanna know which one is the best

I am going to look at some videos now, but seeing as the semi modular has all the mobo's cables.... are they significantly a lot more cables than a fully modular one where you just use what you need?

yea actually switching to the
SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

definitely a better choice

If price isn't the big factor is the gigabyte r9 270 the best of the three.
Not that on stock the His isn't as good, but the gigabyte needs two pcie power connectors which kinda only makes it a lower clocked r9 270X and with the overclocking potential it has because of that the best choice.I think i linked a thread that's about this.

Differences btween the r9 270 and the "X" version are,
r9 270 needs stock one pcie power connector and lower stock clocks
R9 270X needs two pcie power connectors and higher stock clocks.
The chip/gpu itself is the same one.

If the corsair cs450watt did have two pcie power connectors would that still be enough for what you want, but the seasonic is a good choice and has those two connectors.
Don't know where (country) you live and if the partpicker applies, but there could be better options.Regardless is the seasonic, again,a solid option, you could do with the 520watt version if that's cheaper where you live.

I am digging MSI at the moment... their features and having an MSI mobo + GPU has a feature to make it even faster.... I am watching a bunch of stuff on their GPU though right now, between the GIGABYTE and MSI R9 270 definitely going with MSI, even though it's a little pricier, but not by much either.

This is the updated build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/imerino/saved/6bqWGX i've changed the PSU, MOBO and GPU thus far.

out of all the reviews that I am watching they are saying that the R9 270 is better bang for the buck but ultimately people still put the 270x above the 270...... now the 280.... I'll have to look at that later possibly.... I am building one bad ass rig here :) I have a HDD at home and if its compatible with this build then ill throw out the HDD i have picked out on my list and prob go with the 280 if its much better.

Thanks for all your help Vic, im gonna look into the 270x now, i thought it was much more expensive so i didn't give it no mind.

looking at just their specs, the 280 is like 10 bucks more worth it if its better? it isn't the x.... I mean the 270x has a faster core speed but 2gb of memory... the 280 has 3gb of memory with the core speed 933.... looking into it more

Vic... you must seriously want me to die... i am at work it's 5am and you want me to read a 100 page article (ok a little exaggerated with pages) lol 😛 :) ill check it out in a few, but seeing as you have that article I would assume your opinion is that the 280 is better than the 270x?

Wow I didn't know that or else I would've went with MSI Z97-Gaming 5 over the Z97-A but anyway I love my Z97-A cuz of it's all over black design and the ASUS symbol and it saved me $30 in a combo on Newegg. Anyway, that's an awesome build. I will also suggest u take a look at the Fractal Design Core 1000 or the NZXT Source 210. Both excellent cases from what I've heard and honestly they look simple yet nice. :)

Also, I would suggest getting the 280 over the 270x if u can, since according to http://www.hwcompare.com/17660/radeon-r9-270x-vs-radeon-r9-280/, "the Radeon R9 280 should be 34% quicker than the Radeon R9 270X in general, due to its higher bandwidth" and "much (approximately 31%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon R9 270X." But u have to remember 280 has recommended PSU wattage 50W (550W) than 270x (only 500).

No no no ... 😀

:eek2:
Go home, that's no time to be at work.

(it's 11:30 here btw so how can i know? I have a few days off sit on my ass while you are working your ass off )

Yes imo the r9 280 is worth the extra $15.

Also, use this website as ur reference (they calculate their recommended wattage thru eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5, which is the most popular calculator, and then add appropriate headroom): http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm
On the website a r9 270 only needs 450w while 270x needs 500w, so getting a SeaSonic 620 makes no sense unless ur gonna upgrade ur GPU or something.

edit: I'd say get the 520W version of the Seasonic if u get the 270x

if u get the 280, get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151119&cm_re=seasonic_550w-_-17-151-119-_-Product or another seasonic PSU, or get the PSU I got for my 970, the XFX TS 550w (manufactured by SeaSonic).

Cool beans! have't said that in a while lol....

So King i read what you wrote, basically a lot earlier in this thread vic recommended a fully modular psu by seasonic which is 620 i believe so the wattage wont really be an issue, the one i had before was only 500 and according to the link you provided it's a tier 2 not a tier 3 like the corsair i had on my list.

So definitely getting the 280 for sure! The 280 requires a 500watt as well if im not mistaken, however for the price of the Seasonic i dont see a better deal than that right now.

Also, can you guys do me a favor when i am looking at my parts on pcpartspicker http://pcpartpicker.com/user/imerino/saved/6bqWGX their showing something weird on the compatibility notes at the bottom: not sure if i have to worry about either all that much

specifically:
Compatibility Notes
**Some Intel Z87 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs.
**The G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.6V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.
