Power supply weight. Does it matter?

I had a noganet 400W ATX power supply until half a year ago let's say.
Then I swapped it for a 230Watt PSU, because I got a new MB, CPU and RAM and it didn't have the right connectors, but the newer PSU I got, it's not a quality brand, I don't even know the brand(forgot the name), but it weighs like 3 times as much as the last one.
Can anyone tell me if weight actually matters in some way?

in a way, because the sheer mass might indicate a better components inside of it.
however, in your case, that is not a very good psu, and i suggest you replace that immediately. this is because crappy psu's are known to die at any moment and also take some of your other (more expensive) components.
Refer this thread in getting a new one.

yes and no, it can indicate better components, more heat sinks, it could just mean it is heavier.

If you use that PSU you will need to save up for a new machine. That's the only time I'm saying this, i'm not going to get into a discussion about whether it is ok 'for a bit' or 'for light gaming' that PSU will take your machine down unless you are running a low powered CPU (35W) and iGPU. Do you have the money for a new machine, or are you happy not having a machine whilst you save the money for a new machine.

And do you really mean a 230W PSU.

Going off his specs in his sig, the GPU and CPU alone only have TDP's of around 50-60W. So realistically his rig probably only pull 175-200W max. Still, that PSU is a ticking time bomb.
