Power Up

Hello,
My Dell Inspiron 6400 wont power-up. When I try only 3 x lights indicate:the "9" stays steady, and the "A" and "Down Arrow" flash for about 30 Seconds then they all go off. No power is sent to any drive or to the mouse. Any ideas?

Check your connections first; if this is the first time you've used the laptop in awhile, you may need a new power supply. Ebay is your best source for old dell components. But if you think it might be the motherboard, I would have the system tested at a shop before spending any money. New or used boards are so expensive that you may want to pull the hardrive out and go with a new system.
