Prime 95 tests large ftt vs small ftt, which one is more stressful? I've been using the large ftt because it sounded more stressful but as I read more articles as I overclock it seems that the small ftt is used. Anyone know the reason?

yeah intel burn test is the way to go. your temps will be 5-15c higher so watch them carefully. my e8500 at 4.27 goes up to 70-75 in IBT but in p95 doesnt go over 60. plus with ibt you will know quicker if your OC is good or not.

Instant gratification is not the objective. It is well known among expert overclockers that Prime95 Small FFT's is the accepted standard for CPU thermal testing and stability testing because of it's steady-state 100% workload..

From the Core i7 Overclocking Guide written by Xbit Labs: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-920-overclocking.html

More stress but only during each iteration. Between iterations the load drops right off, as does temp. There is no consistency at all. You can't say "I ran IBT for 24 hours stable" because you weren't running that excessive load the whole time.
