Windows XP Pro
Print Spooler is set to Automatic, but Spooler does not
start when system boots. In Services, I start the Spooler.
Not until then does the printer (HP952C) appear in the
screen generated by Control Panel | Printer/Faxes and the
printer become available.
Why isn't 'Automatic' enough to start Spooler?
*Cari responded:
*It should be. Try a System File Check. From the Command
*Prompt, type:

*sfc /scannow
*(note space between c and /)
This did not help.
*Brian responded (Paraphrased):
*I have the same problem.

Hello Hearaoi I think by now everyone has proven just how
much they really don't care about our problem. I heard
rumor there was a way to send the job directly to the
printer without using the spooling service. I have not yet
had time to try this though.

Hi guys,

All I can suggest is to right click on the service, goto
recovery tab and set the 1,2,3rd failures to restart.

This may help.

Tim,
Thanks. 1st & 2nd failures were set to Restart. I set 3d &
subsequent to Restart. No change. When I start it
manually, the printer is immediately available. It seems
to me that, tho Start is set to Automatic, the 'Start
Signal' never reaches the service.
