So I assume this is motherboard an issue but I might wrong so I'm sorry if this belongs somewhere else. Also it's gonna be a longer post so thank you anyone who reads trough this and tries to help.
So, my issue is that my SSD's keep disconnecting when I'm installing larger files. I have 4 SSDs (All of them Samsung 2 of them 860 EVO 250GB, 1 of them 500GB and 1 870 QVO 1TB) and my issue is that when I'm downloading for example from steam a game, as long as my installation speed is capped by the download speed (download being 30MB/s and therefore same for the installation) it's somewhat fine and they don't disconnect as often, BUT as soon as the download if finished and the games start only patching and the disk speed gets un-capped and goes to for example 250MB/s it gets disconnected.
However it gets even weirder, I've noticed, that sometimes it's not even the disk I'm downloading the stuff onto that gets disconnected.
For example earlier today, I was downloading a game onto my 500GB disk and it disconnected the 1TB disk AND while the correct disk was still connected, it said that that disk cannot be found and therefore the download couldn't continue. Sometimes it even disconnects the disk I have my system on causing to bluescreen or even blackscreen right away without saying anything.
Whenever this happens, I have to go manually into my case and unplug the SATA cables from the board and replug them all again to see the disks appear again.
Also this issue is not unique just to downloads either, I've tried removing some files as well and the disks once again disappeared making me restart my pc and replug it all.
The reason why I think it's not a disks/PSU issue but a motherboard is because:
Disks -
1. I've tried changing SATA cables.
2. One of the disks (the 1TB one) is brand new and it's been happening even before I bought it and had only the 500GB one and the two 250GB ones but back then it was only disconnecting the 500GB one and not bluescreening and disconnecting the other two.
3. I've tried disconnecting one of the 2 250GB disks and the 500GB disk leaving only the 1TB and my system disk in.
None of the above helped and it still disconnected the disk(s) during the downloads.
PSU -
1. I've had an extra graphics card in my PC so I disconnected that one since I assume that consumes alot of power
2. As stated before I tried both without the graphics card and the two other disks.
Once again neither helped.
Could also be a software issue, but I've been googling about this for the past 3ish years since it started happening with my 500GB SSD but couldn't find anything related to it.
So that's why I assume it's old motherboard struggling with the write speeds of the SSDs, the motherboard is the oldest thing on my PC (about 10 years old) everything else I've been slowly upgrading.
So my question is, please can someone confirm it's the motherboard?
I'm planning on upgrading eventually when I save up for it because the best CPU (as far as I'm aware with the current slot) I can currently have is Intel Core i7-7700K 4.20GHz and I'd like to upgrade that as well, but I'd like a confirmation, or if possible help to figure this out so I can download stuff in peace without having to restart my PC every 2 minutes and having to worry about bluescreening before I can afford the upgrade.
Thank you anyone who read through this even if you don't have any advice <3
