Problem with direct display

hello guys.
here are my lil problems related to graphic card.. i bought palit_nvidia 9400GT 1GB graphic card last month.the problem i am facing that in the control panel of nvidia there is no preview of 3d logo of nvidia,here is the image:-

and when i open my 3ds max in direct 3d display my viewport retains same as back ground of desktop.its working in openGL display. here is image:-

when try to play burnout paradise ultimat box it shows direct 3d error....
my pc configuration is:-
c2d 1.86,
4GB RAM (1+1+2),
ASUS P5LD2-VM,
SMPS 400W,
PALIT(NVIDIA) 9400GT 1GB graphic card..
please guide me......
