Question Ps/2 to USB Active Adapter NOT working with Compaq Keyboard

I'm trying to use an old Compaq keyboard that has a PS/2 plug to a USB port on my PC using an active Monoprice adapter. (It has the chip) However, only around 5 keys actually work using the adapter. Rest of the keys do not work. Keyboard traces seem to be in good condition. I tried it with another PS/2 keyboard and it works perfectly fine. Any way to fix this? Is the adapter faulty? I'm using Windows 10 version 1903.

If a different PS/2 keyboard works fine with the same adapter, then it cannot be the adapter that's faulty, so must be that old Compaq keyboard that just isn't compatible with adapters.

Using an adapter on a keyboard is very hit-and-miss anyhow, some keyboards work with an adapter, some don't.

Do yourself a favour and buy a native USB keyboard off Amazon or similar online vendor. PS/2 is long dead.
