PSU Fan Replacement, How to find the CFM.

I have a EMACS SP2-4300F-R (S) Redundant PSU's, the fans are getting noisier every day. I like to find out what CFM the fans are pushing and get the quietest fan possible in the same CFM range.

Or i can cut out the middle man,

I can't get new PSU's, I have two sets they cost 100-400 EACH to replace, so the fans can be $50 each for all i care.

In order to determine the cfm and rpm you will have to check the psu fan for some sort of identifying data. You'll also have to determine the thickness of the fan. Looking at the photos I would guess it's a generic OEM fan that probably runs at full speed.

Yeah, i thought so. The fan is a Two wire MINEBEA 3110GL-B4W-B54


this is the spec i found.

Size: 80mm x 80mm
Speed: 3250 rpm
Air Flow: 39 cfm
Noise Level: 35 dB
Power: 12 Vdc, 0.3A

3250 rpm? WOW!

AW Heck! It was too easy. Just google for: MINEBEA 3110GL-B4W-B54 and you'll find lots of links but you'll have to sift through them to get what your looking for.

Yeah, i thought it might be more of a PITA. However there is a ton of garbage to go threw.

It's been quite a few years since I installed an 80mm fan.

EDIT - Hmmm....might be a problem matching rpm and cfm. Also have to figure out thickness as they come in three thicknesses

jsc - There's only a couple there and I'm not sure they're suitable for a psu.

BTW - off subject - You know those missing internal case speakers you mention? I was at a Fry's Electronics store last weekend and saw two new motherboards with a genuine digital display that was capable of actually displaying the error code. Say goodbye to beeps and a couple of tiny blinking led lights.
