[SOLVED] PSU gets loud when playing in 4k --- is this norma l?

sooo i play in 4k whenever a new game comes out but after some time into gaming my PC gets loud and i found that the sound is mostly coming from the PSU
is it normal for my PSU to be that loud after a couple hours playing in 4k? i think i bought the PSU back in 2018 but these things last awhile dont they?

GPU RTX 2080 ti
CPU Intel Core i7-9700K

GPU, case, system-wide cooling setup, etc.

the resolution shouldn't have anything to do with it.
if your GPU is being heavily stressed it will produce more heat than during average use and this could then be pulled into the PSU and also raise it's temperature some but it shouldn't matter at what resolution your games are running.

if your PSU is getting hot enough that it's fans need to kick in at full speed then there is more than likely an issue with your case airflow and possibly the installation of your power supply.

what temperatures are your CPU & GPU hitting when you notice this extra loud noise?

these things last awhile dont they?

you can get a rough idea of what the manufacturer figured the average lifespan should be by the length of the warranty.

gpu temps get up to 70 and cpu 67-78c thats when the psu starts to ramp up in noise the case im using is Fractal Design Define R5
i took the top panels off to allow more airflow and all the fans in the case are running at least 60-70% speed including the cpu fan

You don't have a dGPU? The monitor is connected to the motherboard?

Well, PSUs generate heat. The more power they put out, the more heat they produce. So yeah.... the longer you play at higher loads, the more the fan is going to spin.

With a high-end GPU. Yeah, Supernova G3 850w is screaming out loud. See https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/evga-supernova-850-g3-psu,4930-4.html At low loads the fan speed starts about 1600 rpm.

hmm thanks for this info overall i think the super nova G3 is just loud overall plus nearly 4 years and fans facing down no doubt its got dust issues

i clean out my pc what i mean is my psu i place it fan down so the air blows out under the pc's case i tried flipping it up side but it just only got louder haha

That's not how it works. It takes air from under the case and it blows out on the back.

Yep pulls cool air from the outside and blows out the back, if fan up it sucks warm air from inside the case and therefore needs more fan speed for the same cooling.
