PSU standards question

Hello ,

This might sound like a weird question but here it goes.

I need to buy a new PSU and a 750W will be all I need. According to my motherboard ( GA-Z77X-UD5H ) it has a ATX_12V_2X4 port. Does that mean that when I buy my PSU it needs the following ?

2 x 4-Pins ATX 12V or does a 1 x 8-Pin EPS 12V fit ?

What I am wondering now is if Thermaltake TRX-750M is compatible with this board.

yes, in a PSU with two 4 pin connectors they will fit together to form a single 8 pin connector. A 4 pin is a 2x2 and an 8 pin is 2x4 arrangement, What they mean by 1x8 pin EPS is that there is one 8pin (in 2x4 form) connector.

Thermaltake TRX-750M is a compatible PSU.

How did you happen to choose that model? Did you find a technical review that convinced you it was a good option?

When it was in stock @ NewEgg it did not get very good customer feedback from other owners

I was going for this one since I currently have one Thermaltake TRX-750M and is still working strong. Though I just found on NCIX this one.
