Either they are throttling you or something is wrong with your wiring and needs to be checked by a mechanic. You tried anything to fix it?

There are plenty of systems that still use molex connectors. My NZXT Grid+ v2 is powered by Molex, as are many fan hubs. The Hue+ I have on order also uses molex power. If you have reused your optical drive from a previous build, or several previous builds, you could easily have a molex powered optical drive, but it would be pretty unlikely since they've been SATA for a long time and molex powered units are generally IDE rather than SATA, which means on modern boards there would be little chance of having an IDE header.

Yeah he definitely will want to replace that. He obviously has never done anything of great stress. If he did a stress test, that would either shut off or burn.

Let's hire some firemen to stay at by his house.
I don't even know how his build lasted for so long with such a s***** PSU. That build's gotta be >3 years old.

Oh, and anyone see that motherboard? That "Alvorix" manufacturer? xD

In every HP BiOS I've used, there is barely any setting for anything... on mine, All I really have is VT-x, which I need to my VMs...
k, back to topic

I'm a bit concerned with where the PSU market is heading. Everyone is making Titanium and Platinum units, but these are going to be so expensive. It's great of course if you need the efficiency (like servers), but 90% of people it probably is not necessary. I just want something like high quality Bronze, Silver, or Gold units hitting the market at a good bargain. Kind of like the 4/hundreds of power supplies just about recommended on this forum 😛

There's a pretty good selection of cheap & decent-ish Bronze units out there. EVGA B2, XFX Core, and the Seasonic SS-500 units.

Once you start trying to get better ripple control and regulation, it's not too much extra money to hit gold.

The Platinum/Titanium units are flagships, but I doubt they sell that many.

Well, I think now that they all have decent budget units out there that they're just trying to innovate in the high end market.

I guess, but I'd still like to see new good units. I'm not even talking about budget units, I'm talking about units like the S12ii, EVGA G2, XFX whatevers. I'd like to see more of those type coming to the market, but perhaps from some other brands for a change. Sometimes I just would like to have that moment when I click on a different power supply in pcpartpicker.

At least we can laugh maniacally after he learns his lesson.

"NEW THREAD: BESTEC FRIED MY GAMING PC PLOX PLOX!!!!!!!"

Haha, that made me laugh. Speaking of laughing, I'll post some Amazon PSU reviews in a moment with some commentary by me just for laughs.
