I sent Orion an email asking him to include whichever of the Sentey units are made by Super Flower on the Super Flower platform index on his website, as there are none currently listed there. Hard to know who's using what when our own "Who's who in power supplies" hasn't been updated in two years and the only other database that I'm aware of, which is Orions, doesn't list them either. Especially when Sentey isn't one of the brands you see getting reviewed in depth very often.

I'm not sure Sentey is a company that a lot of people are even worried about since there are as good or better units for cheaper in most cases, but it's still good to know in the event you come across a particular model in a thread.

Which is strange since Sentey has been around the psu game for quite a while. Probably because every one I've ever come across was so light it wouldn't even pass for a paper weight, so wouldn't stand up to any real scrutanization by folks like JG or OW or Orion or turkey_scratch.

Light no longer really means crap. Switching frequencies are getting high so transformer size isn't significant - you also don't need as much secondary cap. Higher efficiency means less heatsink. Primary caps are the only things that aren't really getting lighter, plus housing in ATX standard units.

I'm used to psu's that have enough circuitry and components and wire inside that they still have at least some heft.. Psus that don't seem to weigh much more than the case are what I consider light. But I can understand the reasoning behind quality psus not weighing like a brick anymore.

It's hard to find a company that doesn't have some form of a high end unit. To me, there are two types of companies. Those that sell primarily cheap junk with like one or two high-end lineups that are overpriced. And those that sell good for the money units in a variety of price brackets.

Even Raidmax has some solid stuff, but it totally outmatched by the competition. I've come across those Sentry's on Amazon, they are dirt cheap. They probably function fine under the light load of the machines they will be put inti, but who knows? I'd like to see some less popular units reviewed, and not gutless wonders but things like Rosewill Glacier and Arc.

Not really. I mean, RMx are priced well for the quality they are. Some people say the EVGA G2 are better for the money, but as of late the RMx have been cheaper than they previously were, they have better holdup time, are quieter, and they all have OTP unlike all the G2s. The HXi and AXi are quite expensive, but I think the RMx's presence is enough to make Corsair a great competitor.

The new CXM/Vengeance units, especially around the world, are great value and aren't cheap junk. Even the VS units are a lot better and safer than other cheap units for the same price.

I'd like to see a review of an EVGA Barbecue unit.

I'd just like to see an update. I understand that dt is very busy irl, but with the releases of enough reviews it's going to be an issue, I think. It's just little things like the Corsair RM 850 CWT is tier2? And the above mentioned CXM/VS are tier4. Stuff like that

I don't know how he tiered a unit that hasn't been reviewed. I can't find a review of the RM 850 made by CWT. Can you? I only see the Chicony ones.

The fact that it's 600w when the previous large SFX that I knew of was a proprietary Evga 500w or a 450w? Seasonic is going to make it a huge hit with ppl wanting a decent gpu. Now all that's needed is a decent TFX.

Wait, what does Seasonic have to do with the SFX market?

Hiya Gang!

It has been a while since I last visited the psu section of the forum. The stickies at the top of the section have been changed but I still maintain the original psu recommendation list I inherited from Proximon many years ago as well as a psu lemon list. Here are the links:

http://www.johnnylucky.org/power-supplies/psu-recommendations.html

http://www.johnnylucky.org/power-supplies/psu-lemon-list.html

Both are pretty much up to date as I check over 100 sites daily for news and reviews. The databases still include links to technical reviews published by jonnyGURU, Hard OCP, Tom's Hardware, and a few other sites. I do not list links to less competent reviews that just gloss over technical aspects. The site does not contain any advertising either.

I still need to check the psu recommendation list for brands and models that are no longer in production. With a little luck I'll be able to cull the list next weekend.
