The fan curve is a little weird. Starts out at 800RPM at 0-75% load then shoots up past 75%. Doesn't quite make sense to me. I guess they are trying to ensure that these last a long time is all, but a more relaxed profile would probably be nicer on noise. The 12V ripple was a little disappointing, but under 75% load it's average at least.

most people wont buy a $450w PSU

On a more serious note when did all those tags get added to the thread? Looks terrible.

Agreed on the tags.

My guess on the fan is they're trying to ensure that it starts spinning - if you're just varying the supply to a 12V fan, the variation between fans is high enough that you need to set it pretty high to ensure they all start spinning.

Wait, what do you mean "they all start spinning"? Aren't we talking about one fan here?

Edit: Oh, just speaking generally.

I see in many threads people just screams that even new CXM is bad as it is in "tier 4" here.

I think we should make a new thread where we will just add power supply pros and cons for different models, nothing else.

Another thing people scream is that Cpaxon and Samxon caps suck just because they were used in different CX units. While the particular ones in those old ones may not have been up to par, there are other Samxon and Capxon caps that are better than those ones. The CX450M uses 3 Samxon caps for filtering the 12V ripple, but I'm not too concerned honestly.

I ignore those people. I see the tier list as a good base point to go from but there is just too much to cover to be able to list a PSU like that. Anyone who says the new CXM is the same as the old one is stuck with the idea that only all Japanese caps is good even though there can be faulty Japanese caps.

It looks like a good PSU TBH and I can't wait to see more reviews but that one posted here was pretty good in terms of the quality. I mean it is easily hitting Silver 80 plus ratings and extremely close to Gold which is in line with the RMx and RMi units that were Gold rated but pushing into Platinum ratings under loads.

But there will always be those who have a preference. Even if Seasonic made a dud they would tout Seasonic as the savior of PSUs. I am not hating on them but it is just what I have seen in the past for any product.

Huh. Good luck trying to sell me on the idea that Seasonic is no better than HEC Compucase, ATNG, InWin or some of the other OEMs that I can't even spell. Seasonic did sorta put out a tier 3 dud, if you want to call it that, but Seasonic bias is totally understandable. Repeat quality. May not always be the best, but at least it's good. Can't say that really about any other OEM, even SuperFlower has put out some junk.

In the modern day there are other OEMs that put out units of the same or better quality by the likes of Superflower, CWT, Great Wall, Flextronics. There are FSP units of better quality than Seasonic units even.

Point being I just don't like it when people post, "Buy Seasonic! It's the best." It seems to be ignoring the other options out there. That's the bias I'm talking about. The bias that Seasonic has the best price/performance always. And if people are recommending them for reasons other than price/performance, I don't know if their priorities are intact.

I like Seasonic but they sometimes are not the best option. When I got my AX860i I looked at the 860W Seasonic Platinum and it was not better. It was cheaper but the Corsair was a betetr overall PSU. Plus they retroactively made all the AX series have a 10 year warranty so that was a pretty good buy.

The best PSU right now is still the AX1500i which has been out longer than come of the other new Titanium rated PSUs and that is a Flextronics built PSU.

Hard to argue about that one.

Yeah the AX1500i is just incredible. Much better than the similarly priced Cooler Master Crapperwatt Crapper 1200.

There's actually, not really, but honestly a demand for that monstrosity. By maybe half a dozen ppl in the world. Give or take 6 or so. Their pc consists of a FX 9590 and R9 295x2 crossfire. Wonder if they'll figure out that the only rooms in your standard American home that'll handle that power are the dining room (if you even have one) the kitchen, or the bathroom.

Ironically, my PC is in the dining room, more so to space issues.

At any rate, Any new PSU technology to shake this entire list up?
