no, no, no, hate to disagree. Actually most older homes were wired extensively in 12Guage wiring, rated 20A. Almost all 'New' homes are wired extensively in 14Guage, 15A. There are exceptions. Code requires 2 circuits 20A for outlet use in the kitchen, and a dedicated 20A circuit in the bathroom. The only place commonly found to use 12Guage in a room is the Dining Room, because that's a food service area, hotplates etc. Other than that its 15A. Florida uses 12Guage in the Master Bedroom, because of hairdryer usage etc. Ppl up north tend to be smarter, use the hair dryer in the bathroom.
