That doesn't make sense, if they can't afford to upgrade, how can they afford spending 1.5X amount of money on a PSU then? And if they won't upgrade, that further supports my point that future proofing is silly these days.

I7 3770k - 550w G2 - gtx970. I'm good for years at 1080p, but I spent extra for quality units. The G2 has a 7 yr warranty, so worth the $70 price tag. If I'd gone with the $50 CXM 600 and its 3 yr warranty, after 3 years I'd be looking to replace, so worse performance, end cost is double for a warranty that less than ½. I'll spend 1½ times as much as original to save $30 later. I win.

More efficient does not necessarily mean lower power consumption. AMD's K6 line topped out at about 30W, for example.

Even if that's the case, which I doubt, statistically speaking an extremely small portion of people run two GPUs, yet an extremely large portion of people get more expensive power supplies, "just in case" they run two GPUs, which more often than not never happens because they don't obtain the sufficient wealth or heart to put such money into a computational machine.

I doubt it. Support on that setup would be a nightmare.

I get more "watts" than I need mainly because I like to have my PSU run at 50% load rather than full load. Mainly due to the better efficiency and lower heat thus a longer life. My TX850W was 5 years old when I sold it and was still working great, the fan was even happily moving along.

Bah, I think that my train of thought about larger psus wasn't clear. I was thinking this way. Vast majority of current games support sli via alternate frames, meaning gpu ram doesn't stack. Witcher 3 and Civ use split frame, in dx12, so ram does stack. If this were to become more widely adopted, using split vrs alternate, this would be a bonus to those smaller, cheaper cards, whereby something like a $450 gtx970 pair would actually see better results than a $700 gtx1080, but at the cost of a larger psu. Or am I getting things mixed up?

Is the PSU XFX XT 80 PLUS BRONZE 500W any good? Did I somehow missed it on the list?

(My build is barely 260W but going with the 360W seasonic is cutting it too close, so maybe a good budgeted 450W / 500W)

Thank you

Can anyone see in this site any decent PSUs around 450W-600W below 60€
