EVGA 700B (100-B1-0700-K1) is on for 70$ at NCIX, I want to recommend it to my friend is this a safe t1 or t2 power supply?

That is a killer deal for a PSU in that category. Half tempted to buy it and replace my wifes pretty old VX550W, even though that one was rated pretty highly for its time.

The Platinum King should be a downgraded Golden King or upgraded Golden Green HX. The Golden King is already Platinum and the Golden Green HX is not but anyway it should be expected to have a sleeve bearing fan and not be the best according to the Jonnyguru discussion.

So take Golden King with worse caps and fan.

What are you basing this on? I had an HD7970 which burnt out a no name PSU (It literally smoked out my case!) So I replaced it with a Corair CX600, it powered the 7970 for three and a half years with not one issue! I now have a GTX970 for 6 months and have no doubts that the CX600 will be good for years to come seen as though it handled the power hungry 7970 for years without a problem.

We've said this a billion times before. Once case of good luck does not mean much. The CX series PSUs have had cheap capacitors in them and tend not to last long. There are just enough lucky cases to give it some good Rep.

The CX is the best selling series in the world. Simply because it's so cheap. It also has a quite low RMA number. Simply because it's so cheap, it's easier to replace than wait 2-3weeks for the RMA process to roll around returning a psu. Average lifetimes on a gaming rig for the CX is @18 months, or less. CX psu's older than about 3yrs from sale, have a tendency to last out the warranty, or close to it, newer units are somewhat worse in build quality and are not really lasting beyond the 18 months.

There's a black sheep in every family that doesn't subscribe to the standards of the rest. In other words, you got lucky and got a decent unit. Not many do.

Is this evaluation based on price or there are other aspects? I thought germans are good at tech and given details sound promising.

I agree here, looking at the rating of the unit (high 3.3 and 5V rating and low 12V rating), it is an old design which is already a bad start, then there is the company who is manufacturing it (Solytech) and that says it will most likely be a fire waiting to happen. That coupled with the rated wattage suggests that is is probably over rated and is probably a 400W unit (max) with a 700W label put on the unit.

And just because the Germans are good at tech doesn't mean that there aren't people who are willing to make a quick buck off selling rubbish to people who don't know better

The AXi are the most advanced power supplies on the consumer market, particularly the AX1500i even for being how old they are. These people and their stories, they drive me nuts. Who knows if they're telling the truth, who knows if they're being paid by a competitive company to make up stories of them going boom. What data do we have? We have no data. Really the AXi are incredible power supplies so this claim you are making is extremely bold and not based on true statistical, legitimate facts or evidence at all. Whereas, we do have real facts about these power supplies since they have been reviewed. Ahh, a day may come when more people read the power supply reviews written by actual professionals rather than gullibly digesting every word uttered from some hearsay prophecy.

Hopefully that doesn't sound harsh, it's noting personal against you. Just my piece of advise to stick to real data and not forum people saying their PS blew up on overclockers.co.uk.

@Mac070: The Raidmax Vampire is certainly not a total bust like a lot of their stuff. Some forum member on another forum has PS equipment and reviewed one of those Vampires, which was decent but still there are going to be better options than it no matter what, and I don't think we have enough testing and info on them to make solid conclusions anyway.
