Mine has terrible coil whine but luckily I only used it for about 3 weeks with this PC before my RMA came back. (CX 750). I would trust it to pull 500w but anything over that and I'd feel uncomfortable and I wouldn't use it in a machine worth over £600.

I always try and stick with a decent brand that has never released bad stuff like Seasonic or Superflower, I might be a little silly for this but I believe if they haven't released total rubbish in the past then they shouldn't start now.

Both Superflower and Seasonic have had some poorer units. The thing with the CX units are most people who buy the CX750 have hardware that maxes out at like 250-300W when gaming, and as for the cheaper ones they are pretty decent units, but the new CXM units are great and the CX units will also be refreshed.

Well im running the power supply on my system with a EVGA FTW 1070 and I5 6600K watercooled. Should i upgrade it ? And if so what power supply should i upgrade it to thats under $60 US Dollars?
Thanks for the swift response...

My philosophy is if it's doing alright just leave it be. I don't really think it's that bad where it'd be a necessity to change it soon for fear of something causing damage.

In tests you can run it to the rated output but you have to keep it cool which is fine as I have the fan intake at the bottom of my PSU. Awhile both Seasonic and Superflower may have released not great PSU's sometimes the worst ones they make are my minimum so hense why they are my go too.

Assuming something based on a country is pointless. It is like how people assume all tech things come from Japan. Yet most computing technologies that eventually find their way into other products start in the US. Japan has just embraced technology better than we have.

You mean one of the best rated and performing PSUs in the world right now? As of current no PSU has beaten the AXi 1500. While Corsair has had some meh units their golden boy is the AXi series and some anecdotal stories don't mean much in the overall especially if we know nothing more than what we are told and who is really going to admit if they might have screwed up?

There is always a chance of a PSU going bad no matter the manufacture. Or any product really. I have had a few CPUs die and those are notoriously hard to kill. Had a rental car with 7K miles blow its engine. But those are just my experiences and are not the majority.

My daughter had a Athlon 3200 Compaq with a Bestec psu that ran good for years till it got too slow. My son had the exact same pc but added a radeon x800. Lasted 20 minutes. Some things just don't mix and crappy brands + gpu = oil + water.

Well, to be honest, Corsair has had some pretty shady practices in the past, so much so that it's soured some ppl entirely to the point they'll never use corsair products again. So I can understand the logic. There's enough psu choices out there that getting burned on one brand really doesn't hurt the overall build. The AXi 1500 might be the best, but there are others that are close enough not to honestly be a factor of thought.

I guess it depends on what you consider "shady" practices. I have met people who will not buy Intel, for example, because of their "shady" practices yet they are fine with wearing their shoes made by slave labor for fractions of pennies on the dollar.

Some people turn off of a product due to a single incident that could even be their fault. I have yet to have a faulty Corsair product on over 10 years of building PCs but it is possible. No product is perfect, as I said I have had CPUs die. Hell I even had 1 (only 1) DoA CPU.

My wife asked me why I bout a more spensive EVGA G2 model having other options with such a good price like the CX series, and I just told her is such a long story, you just make some homework research on internet and you will get your answer.
But thats is my wife, if someone tells me that the AXi series from Corsair is someway bad, I would feel so ofended that never stop giving him reasons and wasting my time until he changes his mind.

The old SS-ET series from Seasonic tend to restart the PC after few years of use(1 or 2), I saw it from myself several times as it was the best bundle PSUs at market, I had some clients having to replace it and was a big disapointing to me cause I had recommended it many times in the past and SEASONIC is one of the best OEM out there, so I think a faulty lower tier unit from a specific brand can make some damage to reputation.

Is the CXM power supply really that good? I mean i have the RaidMax and want the best upgrade option i can get. Otherwise i dont know if i should pay an extra $20 for the SeaSonic

Well there is one here https://tweakers.net/productreview/136105/corsair-cx450m.html

But there's a lot of Vengeance reviews and that's basically the same thing. So I use the Vengeance reviews also as reference for the CXM. Well first off in Europe the Vengeance are super good for the money IMO even passing Oklahonawolf's mythic voltage regulation level.

I do agree though I want to see a CXM unit review below 750W besides the one on Tweakers.net. I can guarantee though the BQ are not as good. Well to be fair BQ came out before CXM so Corsair probably looked at BQ and said how can we make it better?

I have a CiT Active 85 550W PSU 80+ Bronze. This one:
https://www.cclonline.com/product/197875/CIT-550W-80-Bronze/Power-Supplies/CiT-Active-85-550W-80-Plus-Bronze-Power-Supply-/PSU0981/

I'm quite to new to computers and I saw CIT is on Tier 5 on your list, the power supply came with my computer that I bought from CCL Online, is it safe? I don't plan on overclocking. Here are my components (Not including the power supply)
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NXvjWX

According to PartPicker it needs 274W power and the power supply I have is 550W, but is it still a problem? Will it be okay for now if I don't overclock or do I need to buy a new one? Thanks.

It'll do the job as you can see but I'd want to replace it soon, maybe get a new PSU as a present for christmas!
