Corsair doesn't make those; looks like CWT. Seasonic, Delta, and SuperFlower are the OEMs I most trust. Some CWT is ok, but a lot uses bad caps. Some FSP is okay too. Flextronics makes some good units too, typically at the high end.

I normally stick with Seasonic personally.

Although the EVGA G2 is a great unit, (Superflower).

There are plenty of good platforms out there that are not Seasonic designs. Flextronics for example generally far exceeds most anything Seasonic has to offer. Delta as well, although they really don't do a lot in the aftermarket, mostly in the industrial, OEM and enterprise markets.

For consumer and enthusiast units, the majority of good products are going to have some flavor of Seasonic, Super Flower, CWT or FSP platform inside.

Andyson is, IMO, to be avoided, There are myths and rumors, even some opinions by some pretty knowledgeable folks on another site that I won't mention, saying Andyson does have a few worthwhile budget platforms, but personally I don't and won't ever use any unit that has an Andyson platform inside. I think I even read Jonny saying that Andyson doesn't even HAVE a Gold efficiency platform, IDK if that is still a fact but it speaks volumes about what they offer that they didn't at the time that was said, which historically wasn't all that long ago.

There are only TWO Rosewill branded series that are worthwhile that I know of and those are the OLD Capstone models, not the newer ones IIRC, and some of the Quark series units. I know the Quark 1000w unit got high marks.

I think that as long as you get something that won't burn down your house, you should be good.

I, personally, am trying to stay away from any units that will go BOOM at the end of their life and give me a heart attack.

Which means the Logisys units especially. Rocketfish, meh. At least it supplies the rated wattage well. Still an explosive. If I'm going to use that one computer I put the Rocketfish in, still might as well get one of these guys:

Will likely look into a 550W Semi-Modular Focus unit.

Not much more to say. Besides if PCIe is bootable? With that Rosewill case, I can't really afford to have another cable for SATA dangling around.

Sure it does. You keep believing that. Can you show me ONE review, anywhere, by a reputable review site, indicating a Rocketfish power supply that was able to supply it's rated wattage? No? Didn't think so.

If I've been actually using a 450W all along, I'll force my dad to step on a lego. And buy me that Seasonic unit. Plan to get a laptop anyways.

I found one. From 2008.

However it was also not reviewed well overall and the price was way too high ($165). Better units existed that cost less.

Ok. I stand, halfway, corrected. Still an unfavorable product though, even then. LOL.

Plus, that was probably a golden review sample. An off the shelf unit of the same model might, very likely, have not done so well. Back then these companies were a lot more likely to do that with sending golden samples than these days where a lot of the reviewers will be aware of that and another reviewer might use an off the shelf model. Especially with a company like Rocketfish that has never been known to use good OEMs.

Oh I agree. I am in no way defending them. I just found it funny that the best review I could find was from 2008 and that the reviewers were expecting it to go boom. That just goes to show you the quality they expected from the brand.

And while I bought it a couple of years later my AX860i was about the same price as that junk and insanely more superior.

But people will buy junk because they think its all the same. I say let em burn.

I say let 'em burn ONLY if they have bothered to ask, and still did it. I feel bad, sort of, for people who don't have a clue and are tricked by marketing or by other users who are also clueless and mislead them. If they know better, and do it anyhow, then hopefully their whole machine gets tanked.

And I only say "sort of" because it's hard to feel bad for anybody who doesn't know about something, but isn't willing to ask.

Believe it or not, I actually came across that one unit when I was looking for the model of the 350W Dynex PSU my dad used in his first PC!

That reminds me of the EVGA BBQ unit I posted an image about a long time ago in this thread.

The day that 350w Dynex outputs a stable, clean 350w is the day I'll go down to the courthouse and legally change my middle name to Sheila. You'd be lucky to get 150w clean and stable...

On further thoughts, many OEM units in HP, Dell and some others are actually better units than anything Dynex ever had boxed up.

Dynex, home of the exploding power supply, 4th of July edition.

Which is exactly why I'd have to bash anybody over the head who insisted on somebody going with any Huntkey made unit.
