Hi, I'm building a new pc for skylake this month, what tier would the Corsair CSM 650w 80+ Gold be in? I'm also considering the EVGA Supernova NEX G1 650w and the Cooler Master VSM 650w since those are the cheapest 600w+ gold psus that I could find.

Corporate marketing and Amazon reviews don't factor into this list. Real testing with specialized testing equipment is required and only a few places have the capability to do those tests. Those Thermaltakes are 80 Plus Bronze CWT made units rated for 40C. Not quite as bad as the standard Thermaltake units that gave them the Thermalcrap nickname for power supplies but there are better units for less money.

Would you recommend a Corsair VS650 instead? I noticed that was a bit cheaper, and it seemed only very slightly lower quality than the Thermaltake based off the marketing slides. Just 2 less amps and slightly lower power efficiency.

No, we wouldn't, unless you're running a machine that doesn't have a decent gaming card installed. Honestly, the entire Corsair lineup is sketchy, even the higher tiered models.

Stick with tier 1 and 2 units branded Seasonic, Super Flower, EVGA, Antec or XFX if you want something that's decent and will last. At any given capacity there is generally at least one unit sold by one of those companies that can be had for the same price or less than any of the Corsair, Cooler Master, Thermaltake or other junk. Any MODEL listed on those two tiers is a good choice, although some ARE less expensive than others.

What is you GPU card model?

What do you guys think about RM750i ? 10+? The RMi 750w scores a 9.7 on Jonny Guru's page. The G2 750w scores a 9.8.

Performance wise the G2 750w seems better. Value wise the G2 750w is miles better.

However if you buy the RMi 750w you won't be dissapointed because It's great.

Very good alternative: Super Flower Leadex Gold 750w. It is basically what the G2 750w is based on.

The EVGA GS 650w, Super Flower HX Green 650w, Super Flower Leadex Gold 650w, Seasonic S12G/G 650w are other obvious good choices.

Any of these are good. The S12G is not modular tho.

Would you prefer XFX XTR 650W 80+ Gold over a G2 750W Supernova or RM750i?

Ok then I'll go with RMi beacuse we don't have G2 750W anywhere in my country :/ Thanks for help

Couple of our moderators have RM750i's in their rigs I think and have praised them, however, I can't personally recommend them over some other units just because they have a few monitoring features that are mostly unnecessary simply because they are also a lot more expensive.

Shouldn't you make a note saying that the CX does have one Japanese capacitor. I have no idea about the VS series, but I remember hearing somewhere that the CX has a Japanese capacitor.

Having 1 Japanese cap will make exactly no difference. The caps used in the CX/VS lines all suck, when it comes close to end of warranty. It'll just mean that the 1 Japanese cap prolly won't fail, but there's no accounting for the 50 odd junk caps that are end of life.
