Okay, thanks. I didn't know better and bought of those back in 13. Replaced one with XFX core edition pro850w, looking to replace the second one now. Do you think a Rosewill Hive or Photon will suffice for an AM3+ platform?

Both the Photon and Hive are listed as being Tier 3. Go back to page 1 of this thread, and look up 'hive' or 'photon' and then scroll upwards until you get to the Tier header. Read what that header says.

Tiers 1 and 2 are what we recommend that people buy. Office machines or very light gaming boxes can sometimes do ok and a Tier 3 power supply as long as the loads remain light.

Ok. Let me explain what happens between the time a power supply is reviewed, and what you might see on this list.

I am going to go back to 2009. Corsair (who like most power supply vendors does not make any power supplies), went to Seasonic and asked Seasonic to make them some power supplies. They named these power supplies the Corsair CX series. Units got sent out to reviewers, and they got pretty nice reviews. At some point after that, Corsair went to a company called Channel Well Technologies (or CWT), and asked them to make some power supplies for them. These were apparently not going to use the same components that they Seasonic power supplies had been using. But even with the changes, Corsair called these CWT power supplies the Corsair CX series... Yes, they kept the same name. Reviews were again done, and most of the units were given ok reviews. At some point, the unit landed on this list as a Tier 3 power supply.

A couple of months ago, many of us were noticing that an excessive number of Corsair CX units were dying way before they should be. Some as early as 6 months after they were purchased. So I requested that we move the Corsair CX from Tier 3 down to Tier 4. After a week of discussion, the change was made. Shortly after that, the Corsair CXM and VS series were also demoted. All of these demotions were done because of problems we see in the forums here.

So while they got relatively decent reviews when they were new, over time, we have seen the problems that a reviewer would never see.

The best Sirfa units are Tier 2 units, and there are 3 models listed.
Seven more models are listed as Tier 3.
And Two of their units are in Tier 4.

And a full dozen more of the units they have made are unranked, which generally means the companies that Sirfa made those for, never bothered to send them out to be reviewed, which generally means they are weak units, and they would rather not have reviews out there that would tend to show people the problems those units have.

So while they appear to be capable of making some good power supplies, they generally do not appear to do so.

Although they are as good as the Super Flower platform, which I expected, the article does say that the new G series platform is similar to the ones used in Thermaltake tough power platinum.

The Rosewill Quark series also received a review from jonny, he seems to like Enhance. I have been sticking with Seasonic recently, but is Enhance a decent OEM?
Orionpsudb.com doesn't have much info on Enhance.

Thanks guys! I really like the XFX core edition pro 850w that I own, but I am hoping for the luxury of a modular, or semi modular, unit this time.

The B2's price just went down, it was 89 a day ago. Now I am torn. I am in the market for 2 units, and I can only get the MIR for the first B2. I might just get a B2 and a capstone G.

Couple of arguments about those units. I think these have been manufactured a while ago and basically the last units that are still sealed in the warehouse are still being sold. With that I mean I think these were manufactured sometime before 2013. I wouldn't prefer it. Also, without rebates these costs 75+ dollars it seems. I would pick a better one without rebates.

You can't find it because it's there, yet it's not. The silverstone 600w comes in with 2 versions, the st60f-p which is a Bronze unit built by enhance, and the st60f-ps which is certified Gold unit built by Sirtec. Tad bit confusing. But it gets better, Silverstone owned up big time. When they sent the st60f-ps to be tested for certification, it came out as Gold. However, Silverstone couldn't guarantee that every psu in that line would match that performance, so voluntarily downgraded the st60f-ps to silver.

The psu you are getting is really a gold rated unit for almost all load %, but you may hit 1 tiny little % that doesn't quite get there. So in the real world, its a Gold unit, and on the tier list, the Silverstone 600w Strider Plus shows as the Gold unit at tier2. It's good.

That OC Series is based on CWT's DSG platform. Think Corsair HX series models like the first versions of the HX750 and HX850. They were considered some of the best PSU's at that time.
